Is it because of the poor quality content? Definitely not. Triond seems to have reasonably good quality content. Otherwise, our republished Triond articles on Experts Column can’t rank so high on Google.
Plagiarism? Google does take action if plagiarism is brought to their notice. But this can’t be the reason for Google disabling thousands of Triond writers’ accounts.
Adult content: Though it’s not the direct cause for the mass ban of Triond accounts, adult content on Triond indirectly played a big role in Google disabling thousands of Trionders’ accounts.

Spam comments: Google will rate blog posts containing spam comments low but will not go to that level of banning an account for spam comments. (remember all the accounts are disabled due to deliberate clicks)
PTC sites: As far as I know, no ad sense user is advertising on PTC sites. You can find articles on PTC sites very rarely on Triond. So, this can’t be the cause for the mass ban.
The real reason for the mass ad sense ban on Triond: You may know about the Google panda updates that hit the writing sites badly in February 2011. Google’s traffic to Triond dropped heavily after the Panda as Google rated Triond very low. So, why did Google rate Triond so low? Triond published articles against Google’s policies. Publishing poor content, plagiarism, spam, adult content, content about gambling, content about weapons, terrorism, offensive content about religions etc., are against Google’s policies. At that time when Google went on panda updates in Februray 2011, there were too many adult content articles on Triond. The pictures being published on Triond at that time, you can’t even find on porn sites. This is the main reason for Google rating Triond very low. Then subsequently Triond lost its Google traffic to a great extent.
The real reason is this: As Triond lost Google traffic, we were getting visitors mainly from Triond itself. Suppose if you have 100 friends on Triond, those 100 friends will have more chances of reading your articles whenever you publish them new. If they find your content useful, they would naturally want to view the ads displayed on your articles as well. Say, some X clicks your ads and views them to day and the same X might again read your new articles next week and view your ads too then. Again the same X might view your ads after two weeks. This process goes on. To put it in simple way, you get all your clicks from the same 25 or 50 members from same ip addresses. This is the real reason for Google banning your account. I know very well that the Triond members didn’t make any click deliberately, but Google’s software is little bothered about these facts. If the search engines traffic was more, more clicks would have come from different ip addresses and in that case Google would have found the same ip clicks within the acceptable limits and would not have banned your account.
If you are writing for a writing site that has its main traffic from within the site, your ad sense account is at high risk. In other words if you are writing for a writing site that gets less search engines traffic, your ad sense account is at risk.
Summary: The real reason for mass ban of Triond ad sense accounts is the loss of search engines traffic to Triond after the Google panda updates in February 2011. Eventually, most Trionders got their clicks from the same Triond friends again and again. As there were not enough clicks from outside Triond, Google treated these clicks as deliberate clicks and went on to mass ban Triond accounts. Thanks for reading.

This article really makes sense of a confusing situation. Thanks.

Is there any way we can remedy this situation then? Should we have a word with the administrators to restrict the kind of content we can post on this site? I can’t imagine it would go well, because Triond’s main appeal is its freedom of content. However way I see it, we’re stuck in a vicious cycle!

Thank you for this information. I never did sign up for ad sense, it was too much trouble.

Hi, marqjonz , glad this article helped you to come out of your confusion.

Hi, Josephine Stefani , I respect your concern for this wonderful site. But unfortunately Triond is reluctant to restrict posting such content. As you said so beautifully we are stuck in a vicious circle.

Hi, ladym33, you can very well sign for Google ad sense. Just be more careful.

My ad sense was taken away less than one week after I was approved, provided the proper information and receiving mailings from them. I honestly believe it is a SCAM and nothing more. I did nothing wrong and my account went away!

Thanks for this info, it seems there’s nothing we can do.

As I’ve said before, my account was banned when I was at the $100 payout. I still don’t know why.

hi, Spidey the Webslinger, Most of us had never clicked our ads. The problem is we got all our traffic from within Triond that led to this disaster.

Google is a Dictatorship at its worst. They are judge and jury with no respect for hard working website owners who are trying to make extra income. They do not speak with you, only send you emails that your adsense account is suspended and do not provide any proof showing all the so called \’phony\’ clicks. There is no independent 3rd party to do an unbiased investigation.
Essentially they are SCAM artists and should be prosecuted by the FBI and thrown in jail. You and I, the 99.9 percent are ants to be squashed by them.
The only way to stop these thieves is for all small websites who had their money stolen by google adsense to band together and launch a multi trillion dollar class action lawsuit which will expose their scheme.
However they count on most of us to write off the loss since it would cost us more money and take years to succeed (if at all). They can be defeated only with relentless determination by all of us combined. Occupy wallstreet has the right idea except they need different tactics. There is a need to take a stand and bring the google adsense tyrants tumbling down

I’ve never, for 2 years, gotten google adsense approval! Is this normal?
Thanks for this eye-opening article.

Hi, Glodfinger, I agree with all your points. Glad to note you can stand up and fight for good cause.
As long as Google enjoys this monopoly, Google would behave like a dictator.
Only if their competitors like Adbrite, Chitika etc become powerful, Google would correct its mistakes.
We need to spread the message and try to encourage small ad networks like Chitika etc on our blogs. Thanks for the powerful response.

This makes a lot of sense vijayanths! Maybe we should de-link our Adsense accounts just before payout if Triond is our main source of Adsense revenue-sharing. Then let the other sites carry us over the payout limit.

You have sound knowledge in these stuff. No wonder you found this article meaningful. Some still think Google banned mass Triond accounts rightly as they indulged in click fraud. We can never change their views.
