I just found my dream job.
While listening to classic rock on the radio, drinking ice tea from a small plastic jug and commenting on an article of one of the writers in my network here at Triond, I had a staggering epiphany. The epiphany was brought about because the writer had asked for suggestions from the Triond community on how to live a more balanced life. She was spending hours each day on Triond and she didn’t want to do that anymore. She was young and there were a lot of other things going on in her life and she was having a difficult time limiting the amount of time she was spending on the computer.

I couldn’t offer her any suggestions because my entire life is centered around blogging. For years I worked jobs I had no interest in so I could pay the bills in order to keep writing. When I say years I mean my entire adult life. The only thing I ever wanted to do, besides sing rock and roll, was to write. When I got the chance to take early social security I didn’t hesitate. I quit the minimum wage job I did have, and hated, and tried to make it as an online writer. I’m a bachelor. I have no children and the dream of writing for a living still burns within me. I could devote all day to writing. Then I discovered Triond. When I read that young writer’s article it hit me: Guy, you are now a professional blogger.
I blog, right? I get paid for it, right? I’m a professional blogger.
My days are spent on Triond reading, commenting and publishing. It’s my job. And every month I get a %35 raise. I’m a lucky man. Guy Hogan is my name and blogging is my game.
I know there may be some of you out there shaking your heads and saying to yourselves, the poor fella needs to get out more.
No, what I need to do is get up to 500 pieces of content on Triond as quickly as possible. I only have 330 more pieces to go. 500 pieces will make for a nice piece of money every month. After all, I’m a professional blogger. And money is also the name of the game.

I hear you, that’s all I want to do, write! I will even move to a less expensive state just to write. I am considering it.

Yovita, a writer needs to have a passion for writing in order to keep going no matter what happens. Without passion the writer might give up.

giftarist, I believe success is %10 inspiration and %90 perspiration. If it’s true I feel pretty good about my chances.
October 21st, 2009 at 8:31 am
Many of us are in the same boat. I feel lost if I haven’t written at least one article a day, and can actually feel pressure building inside of me.
October 21st, 2009 at 8:32 am
chitragopi, only time will tell. It won’t be easy. Good luck.

October 21st, 2009 at 10:43 am
alc, a writer must persevere. And to persevere a writer must have a passion for writing. With passion everything else becomes possible.

October 21st, 2009 at 2:48 pm
I see that you take writing very seriously and if you are looking to get into freelance work, you can message me and I will give you some websites to help you out. Great article.
October 21st, 2009 at 2:48 pm
You always inspire to write, Guy! I have said it before also. Best of luck on your 500 articles target! I know you’ll do it soon!
October 21st, 2009 at 3:05 pm
Excellent article!I like the term proffessional blogger.I unfortunately took a one week break from triond,I could never take a break from writing and I was making about 50% more each month but this month I have seen a 50% drop from the previous month which I am not very happy about so it doesn’t pay to take a break! I am 4 away from 100 but have about 50 photos although they make no money here but I save my best for paying sites. I would like to say I am a professional blogger but right now that is just a dream! This brings inspiration and I wish you the best on your next 220 articles!! There are born writers and those who learn to write and I can tell you are a born writer!
October 21st, 2009 at 3:48 pm
Diverseblogger, I take writing very seriously. Thank you for your offer but Triond is all I can handle.
October 21st, 2009 at 3:55 pm

October 21st, 2009 at 3:57 pm
Good luck on getting those 500 articles done
It’s good that you’re living your dream. Who cares about being balanced as long as your really happy with what you do. You really are a proffesional blogger, and a damn good one at that! Maybe you didn’t give me any suggestions, but you did give me inspiration, and thank you Very much for that!
October 21st, 2009 at 3:58 pm
Mystify, that’s 330 articles and I’ll make it if Triond stays in business and I stay in good health.
October 21st, 2009 at 4:02 pm
Sorry Guy I misread it,I thought you had 330 done. I think Triond will stay in business so I think you will definately make it! Good Luck!
October 21st, 2009 at 4:03 pm
Yes, Aleena, it was you. I’m glad my example helps you as a writer. I’m rooting for you.

Excellent article…
October 21st, 2009 at 7:34 pm
Iindalulu, I think Triond is a great opportunity and I hope to take advantage of this opportunity.
October 21st, 2009 at 7:57 pm
Good luck Guy, remember one article a day for a year would equal 365 articles.
October 21st, 2009 at 8:52 pm
Great work
October 21st, 2009 at 10:51 pm
I have a question, with your blogging do you also promote your articles? I feel it is easier to just write than promote. I mean it takes much less time to write, good luck!!
October 21st, 2009 at 11:43 pm
Guy: You wrote an interesting article. I would be interesting in the way you promote your pieces once they are published on Triond. You could write an article on this and people would be very interested — “how to get more pageviews”. What sites do you immediately share your articles to — are there a select few, or are there 50? I have found that the more sites you share your Triond articles with, the greater number of pages views, but it is very time-consuming. Are there any short-cuts?
Anyway, good luck. I liked your article, and I look forward to reading the next 330 by you.
Best,
Ron Fields

I meant “I would be interested” not “interesting” (ah, proofreading — that old bugaboo).
October 22nd, 2009 at 4:47 am
I’m very happy to hear this. The internet has made many dreams much easier to achieve.
I have a suggestion for you though. Why not use your articles, your skill and even your new money to create a website for yourself? This way you can get 100% profit off advertising even with google ads. You could even assemble your very own team of bloggers!
Just an idea. Keep up the good work, I’m going to look for more of your upcoming articles.
October 22nd, 2009 at 6:49 am
Good Luck on achieving your dreams. Writing is indeed a passion for many, and the money that goes with it makes it even better
October 22nd, 2009 at 10:24 am
Frosty, that’s my goal: one article a day. That’s definitely doable.
October 22nd, 2009 at 12:01 pm

Oh my, a man after my own heart! The Rolling Stones, greatest Rock-n-Roll band in the world; still kicking out tunes until this very day. I say this a 26-year-old who was introduced to The Stones, by my brother who tragically passed away in 2005; I vowed to keep the music alive for him! In fact I have ‘Dead Flowers” on right now, just one of my favorites..
Myself, a professional social media journalist I can identify with you; writing is who I am (as you have said) it’s not just what I do. Each day, regardless of health I log on and I keep clicking away, researching, and of course multi-tasking (because I’m a little addicted to social media). I refuse to let a label of “terminal” control my life and if I can do it, you can do it; anyone can do it — if they believe in who they are writers, poets, authors, bloggers, or journalists.
You have your goals set and don’t let anyone get in the way of the goals you have set. Guy Hogan, he’s a writer (and a very powerful one who have impacted my life); what Guy Hogan is not is a quitter! I have faith in you Sir, faith in myself; and faith in anyone who believes in who they truly are.
Good luck and Best wishes!
Amanda
