The Importance of Having Friends in Triond

Having been completely oblivious about the presence of “add friend” function in Triond, I know the difference between having friends and not having friends in Triond. I have been around in Triond for about 1 year. Yet during most of those time, all I do is post a small number of article and went back to my own business. I was completely ignorant about the fact that Triond have something called community, until Matt John send me a message telling me that he had added me as his friend. Laugh at it if you want, but this story is true. I replied to Matt John later asking what the meaning of friend is and how I can make one. He write a reply explaining how to do that.

As I use the Community tag for the first time, I find that there were already several people who already become my fans and I had ignored them for a very long time. I added all of them as friends and start writing more comments on other people work.

Having friends motivate you to keep writing

For the last 11 months, all I do in Triond is checking my balance once a month. Honestly, the balance of a newbie with only 3 articles is not something motivating at all. Things started to change as I add more friends to my network. Some friends started to tell me that I have to write lots of articles to start earn something. Some other friends told me that I have to write articles everyday. I started to get more advice and encouragement to keep writing and keep be creative.

Of course there are days when I have to take care of my own websites. At those days, I often forget writing articles for Triond. But as I logged in and check my status, I find all my friends keep publishing articles daily.  That was really a good way to remind me that I have to meet my article target or I will never arrive at my goal. Having friends that keep running toward their goals is a good way to motivate yourself.

Friends have higher chance to comment and criticize your work

Having feedback is essential in perfecting all kind of process. A good feedback can tell you where you need to improve your work. Without a good number of friends, you have very small (but non-zero) chance to get any feedback. Different friends have different type of knowledge and interest, so they tend to write comments for different kind of articles. Having a lot of friends will ensure that at least some of them have the knowledge and experience required to write any meaningful comment on your article.

Friends can directly help you market your articles

Your friends are going to have a new entry in their news feed as you publish a new articles. In fact, it doesn’t have to be your new articles at all. As you add someone as your friend, you will get all his/her article feeded to your news feed.

Some of those articles may interest you, while the others don’t. This is fine since different people have different field of interest. You can make the title as suggestive as you can, but your readers simply pick what they want and leave the rest alone. However, now or later statistics is going to come into play. Some reader may find your article relevant to their circumstances and will spread the news to their acquintances like wild fire.

Remember that your friends know someone you don’t know at all. It is rumoured that the only distance between any of us to everyone in the world is only five people. The friends of your friend to the power of five is technically everyone in the world.

As the friend of your friend explore your friend’s article, they may stumble upon your articles and read them as well. Not everyone do this all the time, but if you have a huge number of friends, some friends of your friends may find your articles interesting.

Your friends and your economy are related

Capable of making friends is the premier strength of human being. It is the strength that make us capable of reaching our current state of technology. It is possible to predict the state of your economy from how many friends and relations you have. In Triond, you can place your money to bet that writers with more friends earn more than writers with less friends, provided they have roughly the same number of articles.

This is because economy while have a lot of complexity in its detail is actually simple in principle. The health of an economy is directly related to how much proper contributions the members of a society are willing to give for the welfare of said society.
