The Frustrations of Writing for Ehow

A writing site should be easy to submit your articles too and open about how they pay, Ehow is a site that is neither.

Two weeks ago a fellow Trionder suggested I might enjoy writing for Ehow. Since she is a good friend and has offered me great advice in the past I signed up and began writing for the site.

So far it has been an interesting if somewhat frustrating experience. It all began with the signing up process and my initial article.

I clicked onto the site and signed up quickly and easily or so I thought. Wrote my first article and went to submit it for publication. First, the site would not let me publish the article as it kept returning me to a blank page. 6 times I tried and six times I got re channeled to the blank page. Frustrated I contacted the site asking them if there was a problem.

It was then that I discovered that despite filling out the pay pal information the site was telling me I had not. Again I filled it out and again, and again, and again.

After three days fighting with the site (I was determined) they finally corrected their problem though they never contacted me to tell me they did so.

This time my article went through smoothly and quickly. So did the next. The third article I tried to publish again went back to the blank page. Though this time a potion of my work was saved as a draft.

Later, I completed the article with no problem. However, this problem seems to reoccur with frightening regularity. What that means to me is a lot of wasted time. I spend a half an hour writing the article and another hour trying to submit it.

Still undaunted I keep plugging away at it hoping that the site will correct it’s problems and start to run smoothly.

If that wasn’t frustrating enough, I have no idea how Ehow pays it’s writer’s other than by views. They don’t tell you how many views it takes to earn a penny, or a dollar. Nor do I have any idea how many articles I will need to write to reach their minimum payout of $10.00. I am told that they will not show any earned income until the minimum is reached and have had other ehow members tell me that could be anywhere from 35 to 100 articles.

Though all the long time ehow writers I have talked to assure me that once you reach the minimum payout ehow pays you more and more and you can make a nice tidy sum I have not yet seen it.

Not knowing when I will receive any money or how the amount is determined is frustrating for me. While I don’t expect to get rich it is nice when you can see your hard work is paying off.

I don’t understand why Ehow has to be so secretive about how and when it pays, but that makes it all the more frustrating.

Still I am willing to give the site a chance, but If I don’t see some results by the time I reach 50 articles on their site I am going to be asking them a few questions.

By the way, they finally answered my first contact asking them if there was a problem with their site two days ago.

I can understand with their 2 week response time why many people give up on this site before they even get started. If I wasn’t so stubborn I would have too!
