The Difference Between Increasing Your Readership and Developing Loyal Followers

Ever wonder how you can increase your followers? Take a look at these tips. Do you even know the difference?

How to gain readership on Triond.

Quickly read my opinion about controversy, the main tips for increasing readership follow below!

When Writing Articles

Controversy - All controversy gains readership. If I were to write about Eminem and said he was a white rapper with some pretty controversial lyrics, I’d be boring. However, say I said that Eminem was actually a black transsexual rapper trying to hide his true identity as a feminist, I would gain some publicity.

Negative Controversy- This type of controversy creates negative drama surrounding yourself.  Remember all publicity is good publicity if you wish to increase readership.  Some celebrities cause feuds that make them look like idiots simply to gain publicity.  Now I’m not saying for you to all go out and crash an award speech, but I am saying to state your opinion regardless of whether or not it will follow the general consensus.

Positive Controversy- This type of controversy is specially geared towards you activists out there.  Find something you are passionate in- be it politics, or culture, religion, the environment, anything! Research and discover something wrong, something twisted. Unearth the problems.  Find the next Acorn Scandal or dispute it. Something, anything.

Look, just remember to write from your heart and be honest.  If you try to force it you won’t be rewarded. You receive bullshit views for bullshit posts. Remember that! Now on to the real meat of the article.

Triond Community-  I’m aware, before everyone hounds me, that it has been proven that majority of views come from outside the community and that those on Triond are more interested in writing than reading others work but think about this:

Say you have two Triond Friends. They each view and comment on your articles, they then legitimately like your articles and one decides to digg it and the other stumbles it.  Thanks to your two friends, members of the community who are interested in your work, you have now reached a much larger audience. The more active in the community you are, the more interest you pique towards your own work, the more likely you are to reach outside sources without added work.  Perhaps you’re noted on someone else’s blog, or someone falls onto someone else’s page and they see your name linked to your friends.  They then read your work too.

There is a slight problem with this theory.  The community at the moment is a mess because there are no moderators.  Let’s face it guys the forums are a bad reflection of Triond as a whole.  If everyone was courteous and we implemented a few rules we’d be able to maintain a more ordered place to work.  Don’t get me wrong I do enjoy the hectic off-topic section, but some of the flaming in the other sections really needs to stop as well as double postings. I won’t call anyone out because it isn’t worth it but the site is becoming a bit cliquey. It’s like being in middle school again… Are my clothes in style?

Yahoo! Answers- Answer questions regarding your article. Go to advanced search, set it to open questions only and search for a topic on your article.  Respond to this question with a brief answer and tell the asker to view this article for further information. Quote the article and paste a link in your answer AND your source.

Additionally through Yahoo! Answers you can request people to read and review your poetry and stories.  I’ll post one poem in my question, then a few links and ask them to check those out too.

Start a blog- This is pretty self explanatory, however what you don’t want to do is flood your blog with just your own work. Take other peoples articles (and with their permission) post them to the site along with your own work.

Create a twitter – link this to your facebook, myspace, blog, and yahoo answers account.  If you haven’t done so already set up Triond to post to your Twitter but make sure you tweet on your own as well!

My twitter is here, if you’d like to follow me take a look.  www.twitter.com/poetryinverse

Start with who you know- If youre comfortable with some of your closer friends in real life send them your articles.  You need followers, that is people that will read your other works and stick with you as you post more content.

Forums- Create a list of niche forums that pertain to things you write about.  Be active as possible in those communities and from time to time post your work when relevant.  Use their posts and information you gain there to develop more articles.

That’s about it for now, I’m sure at some point there will be a part two.

Good luck!

Ps. Remember this is fun, no one actually makes enough to quit there day job so don’t be disappointed.

Cliques is right. And on another note, most of the experienced triond vets are doing what you have mentioned and a few things you have not. This is a good article for newbies, but this article has been written dozens of times.

Your correct friend. All publicity even if it is negative drive ratings through the roof. I know from playing those dogs in the Triond forum the way I do. All it takes is a little missssspellling or say somehting about one of their cyber girlfriends. It jacks them into a rage. I love playing the wild card that im a nut this strongly engages them to the exstent of almost 2700 views in 24 hours on a article writen as a hapless missspellling writer. HeHa ha its cormmical but it truly is this formula you state writen out here is the formula for all.

Forum activety linked with contraversy or attack of beliefs = debate and inpulsaviveness wich= views comments saturation of the article link this in accord allows $$$ into my pocket. Great write good info.
