The Benefits of Personal Journal

Identifying the benefits of writing a journal.

Sometimes when you are feeling low and friends don’t help that much, writing your emotions down to a journal is like a lifeline in those most depressing moments. How?

1. You become honest in identifying what you are feeling.  Yes, each entry allows you to open up and give name to what you are already feeling. It may be hard at first but it sure does remind you that each written account is also a reminder on how you progress- or the lack of it , in moving on.

2. Same person, different perspective. It may be a personal journal but it can also give you a different perspective on things. Give it a day and your pages will be telling you a different story.

3. A lifeline to sanity. It is only by your journal that you can clearly see the situation and get in touch with your emotions without people’s opinion pressuring you. You pour out emotions through your pages and get some things off your chest.

4. A self-help. You are actually helping yourself in doing journals. Apart from the intimate prayers, you are also trying your best (without knowing it) to relieve your emotional state.

Hi – I agree with you on all these points… especially #3. It’s kind of crazy to look back & see how my perspectives change on one situation in only a few days… a journal is a great way to take a “deep breath” mentally & get all your feelings & thoughts in order.
