My 2008 journey into the world called “Internet”.
The year 2008 or Year of the Rat is a remarkable year for me. It’s a remarkable one because it’s one of the most memorable and productive year for me. It’s memorable in the sense that, it’s the year when I started contributing articles for Triond. Consequently, a productive year, because I started receiving extra income from my published works ranging from $100 – $200 a month which is of great help and made the financial aspect of my life a bit lighter compared to previous years.
Because of this additional income I am receiving every month, I was able to pay all my bills (electric, cell phone, telephone, and internet) on time without delay unlike before. I was able to enroll my daughter at the best school in town. And in addition, I am now recognized by some of my colleagues who were doubtful at first if I can make it good in the internet.
Publishing articles is easy especially with Triond (the only publishing site in the internet where I am actively contributing). The real problem lies on marketing -on how to gain views or traffic to your site. Marketing is the bread and butter of every writer/contributor – more views will mean more money. I have seen scores of good writers that come and go, most of them disappearing due to failure to gain expected views on their submitted articles. It’s the same problem I encountered during my first month. I was able to published 78 articles during my first month, most of which were poem that I have written in the past. Without any knowledge and background on internet marketing, guess what – I’ve earned $1.86 only. Isn’t it silly and ridiculous?
But this didn’t discourage me to go on. Through exploration and discovery, keen observation and careful analysis with the aid of will power, perseverance and hard work – slowly, one by one, I started to learn the process of promoting my works. I’ve been through a lot of trial and error but in the end after working long hours every night and having minimal hours of sleep, I started to see the fruit of thy labor – my articles started gaining more views/traffic.
At the same time while learning on how to advertise my works, I started making friends with Triond writers by reading their articles and posting comments on them until such time that I’ve already created my circle of friends without even noticing it. As a sort of unsolicited advice, I hope newcomers at Triond should do the same, instead of leaving messages on the inbox of fellow Trionders asking them to read and comment on their published articles.
As I was climbing the stairs of Triond, there were few people who tried to pull me down by leaving harsh and nasty comments on my articles but this didn’t discourage me either. I would admit, it affected me emotionally and even psychologically (sometime) but on the other hand, it encouraged me and challenged me more to strive harder.
To sum it up, I would like to extend my warmest thanks and gratitude to my love ones, to all my friends, my on-line friends (including my detractors) for their moral and spiritual support, the hundred and thousand readers who diligently read my articles (hopefully they’ll continue to do so for all the years yet to come), to all the Triond editors and support team for their helping hand and to God above for His continued blessings and graces. To all of you, I offer this humble and tiny success of mine and with hope that in my own little way; this achievement will serve as an inspiration to others.
Thank you all, good luck, good health and God Bless!
Here’s my top 13 list of articles that gained (and still gaining) the highest number of views;
My two most read poems are; I Don’t Love You and Love Me Again. My recipe with the highest number of views is Pininyahang Manok.

Hi Norbert! This is my first time on triond and I am hoping for a success story like yours.Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
December 31st, 2008 at 10:57 pm
Very cool article, Norbert! Makes me hope. The most I’ve earned per month was just under $4 – but I can keep on. I do love writing but have been suffering a strange form of writers’ block – i can write songs and poems, but longer works have a mental block – I’m looking for the new year, hoping to find that rainbow that sets me free. I love to read your works.
January 1st, 2009 at 9:12 pm

A truly great job Nobert, I would love to be able to make that kind of money here. I admire your work and determination, I guess I’m not writing enough or haven’t got into the way to get more reads yet. Congratulations on a great year and I hope it continues to improve for you in 09.

Glad to hear! As I said in my latest article entitled http://www.writinghood.com/Writing-Business/How-to-Become-the-Most-Convincing-Writer-in-Your-Writing-Career.431379
we should unite and don’t curse each other. We should support each other. It’s very common that people who jealous at your success will think of ways to pull you down, but if we unite heart by heart, we can face it!
January 4th, 2009 at 5:39 am
I simply love this. Very inspiring… I pray someday, makapag- post din ako ng ganito. Thanks for sharing, Nobert.
February 7th, 2009 at 2:56 pm
Nobert, I was reviewing the articles I had missed during my computer crash. I am so sorry I missed this one earlier. It is truly inspiring and motivating, but you deserve it and I am glad that God is encouraging you through your troubles and lifting you up. Those who leave nasty comments (I’ve had them too) are encouraging us also, whether they know it or not.
Take care & G♥d bless!
February 8th, 2009 at 1:26 pm
I cannot say more than that your strong will, persistence and hard work that brought the success you desired has greatly inspired me to take my Triond career beyong the demarcation lines.
I had built some barricades to constraint writing on only certain topics in certain ways but never thought that the same analytical thinking, same hardworking can be applied here that I had applied in other walks of life.
Thanks for sharing this great information.
