Shelf Life Important for an Article

The shelf life of an article has a lot to do with how much exposure a particular article will get.

What the heck is shelf life? How long a particular article will have significant interest among web searchers.

We all are going after the elusive page view as we should but while we are doing so we must consider the shelf life of an article.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist (whatever that is) to figure out that the longer an article is in front of those searching the internet, the more page views it will receive. We should not only be trying to write about popular topics but also about topics that will attract the attention of readers for months (and even years) to come.

Wouldn’t it be awesome to have more than one generation read an article that you posted?

It’s possible.

Articles that have a mainstream appeal, which are written on subjects that continue to attract new readers, have the potential to earn residual income (literally income that never stops) for several years.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have several articles that continue to earn money for you that you wrote several years ago?

It works the same as a financial investment. When you invest in a particular investment vehicle, your money continues to earn interest as long as you keep it in the investment fund.

The same thing goes for article shelf life. As long as a web site and search engines keep your article on display, you can continue to earn from them indefinitely.

Just like in the store, shelf life is dependant upon the time and quality of the product.

Some products  don’t have a very long shelf life in the store because of the nature of the product (fresh fruit for instance) or because of the appeal.

The latter applies to content writing. To quote an old B.B. King song, once “the thrill is gone,” it‘s probably gone away for good.

You want to give your article a chance to survive. It’s a jungle out there.

Write about popular topics and ones that have an ongoing appeal. Your article will thank you.

I think I hear him/her now.
