Sad Poetry-My Views

The most appealing thing in this world, to me, is human emotion, for its myriad hues and means are almost unpredictable, yet, there are some universally acknowledged emotions like love and hatred, joy and sorrow, etc. are often the major source of most of the literature that has already been written, is being written, or will be written.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that love is a universal emotion and there is no denying that love often causes pain, thus justifying that it is equally universal.

Notwithstanding the pessimism and negativity, we are always unanimous in our conclusion that sad poems and stories of emotional pain bring each of us a strange kind of pleasure. Even the best of the psychologist has no answer to this unique characteristic of sad poetry. Even if the psychologists come out with answers, it is sure that their answers will be different from the answers given by a poet.

Burden of pain and sorrow is so heavy on one’s mind that it is almost unbearable, and as a result one wants to share one’s pain with others. Sharing is the only way to counter the sad emotion-some share it by means of conversation and some, the learned ones, share it through their writings.

Poetry emanating from heart is magically truthful, in spite of all the elevated metaphors and allegorical allusions. A poem that is composed solely for the transfer of truthful emotion can touch can touch us, move us, delight us, enlighten us, make us laugh, make us cry, and both soften and enrich our deepest memories. Poetry is the tie that binds one stranger to another, often in friendship, sometimes in love, always in better understanding.

There are so many sad love poems which carry an inspirational message about the human spirit’s ability to cope with loss, even death, in the context of a loving relationship.

If grief ever strikes you, just pick up your pen and scribble a few lines on a blank sheet of paper. You will see that poetry begins to take shape and you get a kind of relief which will, in the longer run, show the signs of a poet if you continue to involve yourself in reading and writing poetry. Sad emotion can be very easily converted into creativity to make your mark in this human world.

Just try it in the moments of sorrow, thinking that you are all alone and you must share your emotion with others.
