Reflections of a Novice on Writing at Triond

I began to write articles at Triond only from March, 2009.I have learnt something from the site as a writer;I wish to share my experiences at Triond for the benefit of new and upcoming writers.

I am a novice on writing at Triond. Please bear with me, if you feel that my reflections on my writing at Triond are immature. I began to write articles at Triond only from March, 2009.However,I have learnt something from the site as a writer; I wish to share my experiences at Triond for the benefit of new and upcoming writers.

The following tips may be useful to the new and upcoming writers:

You should cross your language barriers:

Writers from the English speaking countries like US, UK, Ireland and Philippines and writers from non-English speaking countries like India get their articles published at Triond. Triond writers hailing from the different countries of the world belong to different cultures and religions. Hence, Triond is a cosmopolitan site. But Triond does not discriminate between these writers. Of course, there are some sites like Helium which clearly discriminate between them as English speaking and non-English speaking writers. If you are a writer hailing from a non-English speaking country like India, you have to raise your standard of English at par with  English speaking writers. You should remain vigilant to improve your standard of English. You should read more articles of English speaking writers at Triond, their comments etc, besides reading English classics as and when time permits. By and by, you will become proficient in the English language. One thing you should note. The Men Booker price winners and the Booker of Booker prize winners etc do not hail from English speaking countries. Therefore, as a writer what you require is the zeal for learning and a flair for writing. Then, your writings will stand out and you can establish as a writer.

Build up your net work of friendship:

Once you begin to write articles at Triond, your foremost and immediate duty is to build up and widen your net work of friendship as much as possible. To start with, you can befriend your own country men; then gradually go through the profile of various writers, read their articles and establish contact with them. It is equally important to have a lasting friendship with the existing as well as the new writers, for which you have to earmark a specific time to read and comment on their article; your friendship should always be based on and guided by the principle of reciprocity. You should also note down another important point. If you have any difficulty in understanding the essence of an article or a poem, it is better to avoid making any unwarranted or unnecessary comments. Otherwise, the concerned writer of the article may get offended; you are also running the risk of hopelessly exposing yourself. In the result your net work of friendship will have a dent and your earning prospect will also be affected.

The advantages of building up your net work of friendship at Triond are:

  1.  More than 60 % of viewership of your articles comes from your network of friendship that you have built up at Triond. Thereby, you have a chance of increasing your income, because, you earn at Triond based on the number of viewership of your article.
  2. By reading the articles of your friends, you have the chance of gaining the knowledge; know their culture and unique habits.
  3. You have a chance of learning different styles of writing and thereby evolve a style of your own.

Increasing the contributions or number of articles at Triond

Another important step or method of increasing your earnings at Triond is  that you should post your articles as frequently as possible. In other words, you should write as many articles as possible on a single day. At the beginning you may find it difficult to write a number of articles on a single day, because, you have yet to thoroughly learn the nuances of writing articles and the guidelines for submission. Once you have mastered the nuances of article writing, you should constantly strive to write as many articles as possible.

If you have developed a niche area or two, you have to regularly contribute articles in your niche area, besides writing a few more articles in the other areas. While some of your friends may be interested in your niche areas, others may be interested in reading articles on the topics of general interest. Therefore, you have to necessarily write as many number of articles as possible so as to increase the viewership as well as the earnings on your articles.

Improve your skills of creativity

It is needless to say that once you become a writer of articles at Triond, you certainly have the seeds of creativity in you. Some of you might have developed the skills in a planned manner. If you are yet to develop your skills of creativity, you should take steps in the right direction. Triond is a site that is meant not only for the article writers but also for the writers with creative talents, who excel in writing poems, short stories, skills of drawing, photography etc.Since Triond enables you to post your articles in a number of its affiliate sites, you have a chance of getting wide exposure. Above all Triond publishes the poems and other creative works rather quickly than the articles. Therefore your creative articles have more scope for earning than the other articles. Therefore, you should necessarily develop any one of the creative talents, if not all.

As a novice, I consider the above mentioned tips are quite useful to sharpen your writing talents and increase your earnings; above all they help to establish you as a writer at Triond.

A good article, full of sound advice for new writers on the site. The only thing I would question is putting several items on each day. When I see several items from the same author I tend to only read one or two because of time restrictions. This means that the other articles don’t get the reads that they deserve.

Good points, all. I know what Christine means about multiple posts by same writer. However, I am a speed reader, so I try to at least skim all of them. So…multiple postings? Please make it worth my while to slow down and pay attention.

Posting as many articles as possible on a single day does not mean that all your friends will read them on the same day.Nor it is possible, because, they may have other obligations.Their interests may vary; they may like different niches;Hence, it is imperative to write a number of articles from your earnings point of view. But you should see that your article should have a quality content. The quality will take care of the rest.As already said reciprocity is the guiding principle. Thanks for interacting; that is how I feel.

Great Advice, I too have notice that it is important to read my comments, connect with other writer, and write daily. It does not always matter about the quantity it is the quality of your work. Be a creative writing, scout different topics, sometime write “outside the box”

Great Rama! But writing proficiently and the type of writing your attempting are two different things. How about touching the real you and correcting the grammar later ? What do you want to write ? Your inner world or some rocks on the beach? Do you want to express yourself or be a sloppy journalistic cynic? Try and make your mind up and then see.
