This article will instruct you in how to make a poster as big as you want from normal A4 papers.
To rasterbate is basically to take a picture, and make it really big, so that the poster will be stretched over many A4 papers when printed.
WARNING: This will not create a real poster. If you spend enough time trimming off edges or sticking them very accurately, it will look good, but this isn’t easy. What most people do is to leave some space in between the papers to make a “grid” through the picture.
To start off, download Rasterbator: http://homokaasu.org/rasterbator/
Rasterbator is a free program that allows you to make huge posters from small images.
Step 1: Ok, when you downloaded Rasterbator, start it. Click Continue
Step 2: Select a language you want it to be in (you select language every time you start it). Click Continue
Step 3: Click Browse, and find the image you would like to make into a huge poster. Click Continue
Step 4: Select the paper size. Normally, you would go for the A4 version, but if you prefer other sizes, you can choose that too. Choosing between Portrait and Landscape is just choosing between horizontal and vertical paper. Click Continue
Step 5: You will see your picture, plus a grid. This grid shows you how many papers will currently go into the picture. You can choose the amount of papers you want, wide or high. It will display the size of the image, and the amount of papers needed. Click Continue when you’re done.
Step 6: The Dot Size option is about how far apart the dots will be. (The whole picture will be made up of dots). The less, the higher the detail. If you put it to 1 mm, you will hardly get dots, and it might look better, but you will have to pay more to get it printed.
Color mode. You can choose between black and white, a custom color, or multi-colour (the colors of the original picture). Press Continue when done.
Step 7: Choose the file path where it will be saved, and click Rasterbate!
This will create a PDF document of all the pages, and can be opened with Adobe Acrobat Reader or other PDF viewers and editors. If you’re happy with it, you can print it when you want.
The result will be something like what you can see on google images: http://images.google.com/images?rlz=1C1GGLS_noES313ES313&sourceid=chrome&q=rasterbate&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=no&tab=wi
And there you have it. Stick it up on the walls, using double-sided tape, or tape rows at the time to each other and then hang it up. Whichever way you do it, the plain, boring wall just got alot better
