Who is your favourite Novelist? Please share with me after reading.

My Favourite Novelist is Danielle Steel. I have read so many of her books and no doubt she is an excellent Novelist. I enjoy her books so much, that I have even bought DVDs based on their stories. Certain qualities make her stand out as a great Novelist to me, and they are as follows:
1) When I start reading her novel, I feel reluctant to put it down. If anyone talks to me, most of the time the response would be an “mmmh” or an “aaah”, while still reading.
2) The way she writes makes me empathise with the characters in the novel, as if I know them personally.
3) I forget where I am and get totally immersed in reading. Time just flies.
4) There are no negative thoughts or worries in my head as I am fully focused on what I am reading.
5) When reading, I picture the scene of her Writing in my head, as if I were watching a movie.
6) She creates suspense in her novels which sometimes makes me skim the last few pages of the book, to have an idea of the outcome.
So, ideally these are qualities of a good Novelist.
Her stories are about challenges and how people overcome them. Sometimes the story covers generations of a family. There are always so many twists and dilemmas for the characters to face. At the moment, I have Amazing Grace on my bookshelf which I hope to enjoy over the festive season – be that in Freezing cold London or on a beach in Honolulu.

Apart from her most recent book I think I have read everything Danielle has ever written. I love her work. Others I enjoy are Josephine Cox, Catherine Cookson, Erica James, Cathy Groves, Lyn Andrews, Virginia Andrews….the list could go on and on. When I find an author I like I read all their books.

LadyE…this is a great explanation as to why Danielle Steele is a great favourite…not sure if I have a favourite, but I have probably read more John Grisham stuff than anybody else…being a journalist at heart I find that when I read his books it is almost like reading a very detailed, lengthy newsstory and when I put the book down I sometimes struggle with whether the book is fiction or real…I liked this submission a great deal and voted to say so…if I could only emulate some award-winning author!!! Thanks and take care…
