Pushing Yourself to Get Published Online

A short article giving tips and tricks on how to get published online, and getting paid for it!

When working for a living, it can be difficult for someone to know where they are best placed to spend their time in order to get a return for that investment in time. Of course there are places like the medium I am using to talk to you all now. But there are also other places, such as online journals and books that regularily make publications from members of the public. The problem is knowing which ones will pay you well for what you are doing and which one’s won’t.

Triond (The medium I am currently using) is one of the best in my experience. It pays based on the number of views your article has, along with a percentage of how much revenue your articles generate for the website itself. This gives you a fairly large return on your time investment, although this will severely depend on choosing the correct topic.

Associated content is another website that offers similar promises to Triond, although with slightly less impressive results. Again the amount of revenue is determined partly on the type of content you choose, and how many people read your article. On average I have calculated that you receive around 2/3rds of what you would receive with Triond.

There are also many independent journals and advisory websites that will publish the works of someone who is persistent enough, although many of those websites and journals do not pay to put your content online.

Websites such as redgage.com and shetoldme.com will promote your content, although they are not primarily for displaying new content. However these websites do pay for displaying and the amount of times your content is clicked upon. This is normally vastly smaller amounts than those paid by those that display the actual content, but it does all add up. I would not raise expectations above a few dollars every month.

At present I earn approximately $5 a month from my writings, and therefore I do keep it as a hobby, however with each new article, I do tend to earn a small amount more, and move one step closer to being able to live from the royalities of my own writings perminantly.

So what do you think? What are the topics which have earned you the most commission, and which topics do you avoid as they do not earn you as much?

Hello and thanks for taking the time to write a very enlightening article. I have been writing for mylot for the past seven or eight months. There we can write on just about any subject from A-Z. While we are not paid very much especially in the beginning of our writing history, I have found that the most fun thing is when we are able to get responses from our writing. As other users may see something in our writing that they can relate to then they will add us on as a friend and we begin trying to support each other by making it a habit to keep up with each others discussions and to respond to them.
While I’m not attempting to make a funny response here, I’ve found that by writing articles and discussions related to sex has been a big hit. When I first tried it out I was amazed that to find that so many readers had taken interest in my discussion. I guess it’s true that sex sales:). Anyhow that has been a great topic for me in the world of writing but mind you, If I write them I usually try to keep my topic educational/informative as well as entertaining. Also I’d just like to add that those aren’t the only kinds of topics that I like to focus on. I’m very open-minded, so from me a reader can probably expect to hear just a little bit of everything. I”m still rather new to the world to the world of writing even though I’ve always known that I would be a great writer if I ever decided to take it seriously. Like you I’ve come to see it presently sort of as a hobby but some day I may just decide to buckle on down and create the next best seller or a romance novel. Thanks for taking the time to read and please feel free to respond and to add me as a friend if you’d like, it would be greatly appreciated. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m still new here at Triond and I could use some good friends to help me in navigating this site. Peace!
