Just some thoughts about the way I write poetry.
The very first poems I posted on Triond were pre-written…. the last several have all been on the fly so to speak.
I click the submit tab… and out come the words of poetry… I don’t really think about what I am writing… I just do it.
Poetry has always been this way for me… naturally. And, until Triond, it was not somethiing that I freely shared. Sure, I wrote poems for my Mom and shared with her, and I wrote one once for my daughter…. but I have never been so public or so easily inspired as I am here.
Articles are a different story, most are prewritten and revised before I click the submit tab.
So… how about all of you? What comes naturally when writing, poetry, stories or news type articles.
I have a feeling that many of the writers here find it quite natural to write up a page or two “on the fly”. Avissado seems to effortlessly write about Depression and Anxiety, in a very newsy kind of way but also in a way that seems incredibly natural, and Martin Kloes could run a production line of Haikus as naturally as the sun comes up. Oh, let me not forget, Paul Kurt, his little poems and witty stories come off the top of his head like a hat!
Triond has a way of bringing out the natural part of a writer… at least, I think so.

I have been writing poetry for a long time sometimes I feel I may burst if I can’t write the thoughts and emotions down on paper,
I always do that first and I have some published in hard copy
Stories and ideas seem to come easily at times other times life gets in the way then my inspiration comes back again ^_^

Poetry comes more easily than articles for me.

When I write I have to come up with the first line and this normally becomes the headline. I then have to sit back and have a cigarette and think of how I would describe this headline normally about ten lines and this becomes my description After that I sit back and have another cigarette and think of the first line of the body once I have that I can then start with the actual story. If it is factual i.e say a news piece then this is where I research it over another few cigarettes. Then I write it.
I then check it out before submitting the piece whilst having another couple of cigarettes. Then I press submit. I then sit back and congratulate myself with another cigarette and maybe a glass of wine. I think that may be why by the end of the day that I make more typos. In respect of poetry I suck at this and have never been able to do it properly but I love reading it and you guys write some beautiful stuff and I thank you for it.
Sorry the comment is so long.
Best Wishes

PS: I think I will have another cigarette

I tend to write all my stuff in word so I have a better chance of catching most of the spelling errors and typos. This does not always work though and I have a formatting problem usually.
I also sometimes have a session time out problem if I write in the Triond editor or even worse my Internet disappears…
Thanks for your article. I like knowing how others create here on Triond.

You did notice and I like the way you put it–”on the fly.” I do this a lot since I do not have much time nor much know-how on form and matter, so I just “let it go” where my fingers and my mind would take me.

Having worked as a journalist I’m used to having to write articles under pressure. It is nice to be able to relax a little more on Triond and let more of myself come out.

That’s right, mom! I don’t usually write poetry, but when I have a go, it’s because inspiration has ignited a good poem. Good share!

poetry has been a way to save me during dark times. Emotions have to get out and I’m not a big believer in revenge so out my emotions go on paper

I don’t sit down to write poetry words just come to me usually when I’m doing my boring job or at night when I’m trying to sleep. I tend to jot things down and before I know it I have a poem

It’s fun to write poems. I particularly like to write humorous poems. Many of my poems are about everyday life. You wrote a very nice article.

I can always write for England about all kinds of subjects – but the subjects that I’m an expert on – like health subjects, anatomy and physiology – and teaching – are subjects I steer clear of! I don’t know why – probably because I’ve had enough of them and I had to write so many academic papers and do and mark assignments till they were coming out of my ears -I’d rather concentrate on the creative side of my writing. Maybe sometime I’ll turn back to health and education – but not yet – oh no – not yet!!!

You don’t say. You mean, even those angelic ‘haiku’ have been fly off the seat of your pants? You have gotta be some kind of gal, Momma!
As usual, great writing.

cool, way to share your creativity with us. i wrote some poems in high school, and that’s as far as i got!

I find poetry quite daunting to write, but then maybe I should give it a go and see what I could come up with. My writing tends to come from thinking long and hard about what I would like to say. The Military Citations that I have written though are word for word, from the ships that I have been on, those Military citations are on display on those vessels and I feel it would be disrespectful to change any of that, but they were written out by me. Just thought it would be nice to mention that.

I write poetry but do not share it. I am thinking of sharing it. And maybe write some more. I do better on articles about it is hard to explain….I easily wrot e my article on dog food. By the way, when my mom finds her pet recipes which she put away when my dog would not eat anything she made, I will be posting food that is healthy for dogs yet contain some human things.
