Poetry Challenge: Reflections in The Mirror Update

The Reflections In The Mirror Poetry Challenge has come to an end. With all the drama unfolding regarding the complaints about earnings, I’m afraid this challenge didn’t get the full steam it was capable of. That being said, there was a lot of participation for this challenge.

This poetry challenge will mark the last poetry challenge I will hold on Triond.  After hearing more upsetting news about how Triond exploits it’s writers, I do not feel like I can write another word for this site.  The latest news regarding Triond was an article that was brought to my attention by Shelpeare.  This article basically said that Triond was selling our work to publishers, and that those publishers were promised all rights to the content.  While I don’t know if this is really happening, it is the last straw for me in continuing with this site.  If you would like to read the article than click this link: http://writinghood.com/writing/do-you-know-about-this-triond-page/.

Being that this is the last poetry challenge I will hold on Triond, I would especially like to thank all the poets who contributed poetry to this challenge.  All my further challenges will be held on Hub Pages, so if you would like to participate in the challenges over there feel free to go to HubPages.com and sign up.  You will be able to find me under the same user name PhillyDreamer.  If you do decide to switch over completely I reccomend signing up for Google Adsense as it is the primary way of getting paid on that site.  I also urge you all to place your work on another site to protect yourself in case Triond really is stealing your work.

The following is a list of all the poems that were contributed to the Reflections In The Mirror Challenge.

Again, I would like to thank everyone who participated in this challenge, and I hope to see you all at Hub Pages for the next one.  It was a nice ride on Triond while it lasted, but I have to take my exit now.  Thank you all for supporting my work and my projects. The community on here is something I will miss very much.  Good Bye Triond in case I don’t see you again.

Wow. I will have to read that link. That would make me nervous about my poetry. I don’t really care about the recipes, but the poetry is all mine or at least it should be. Was going to write some poetry this morning here, but now maybe not.

Thanks for letting us know this.

I too am conflicted jfay with my poetry and my funny life moments. That is my writing and no one else deserves to be selling it.

    Thanks for the compliment Vinaya!

    See you on HubPages PhillyDreamer!

And one more down the tube! Wishing you the very best in your new venture. I have a question. Is it possible that some of you are confusing copyright and first publishing rights. It looks to me like we hold our own copyright but Triond with its affiliates holds first publishing rights. When a publishing company or group accepts our material for publication they are granted the right to publish our work first and according to the terms of payment they have established with us in the agreement between us and them. Once our article is published through Triond with one of its affiliates we are free to do whatever we choose with our own work. Just adding my two cents. Lets just be careful we don’t jump the gun and assume things that may not be true. The same goes for publishing with hard copy publishers. Most do not accept simultaneous submissions to avoid this complication. I think we are confusing copyright and first publishing rights but maybe I am the one who is wrong.

Well Philly iv’e held back for a while as normally i would not put anyone down. There comes a time however and you may not like this, but i feel it has to be said and i am prepared to be deleted here and anywhere else by anyone that has me as a friend. You said in a recent article you have graduated and become a good writer because you achieved 10,000 views in two months – also Triond had taken you as far as you can go. Well 10,000 or even 20,000 does not whichever way you want to put it mean very much in earnings nor does it make you a good writer. Its others who decide if your good or not, and very boastful to think you are. Maybe you should look at yourself and reflect as we all need to at times. As for me i just write what i choose and that just makes me average, but that is fine.
After all that i have said, i still wish you luck in your ambitions and really hope you make it – but always remember a little humility is good for the soul. Peace out

I have written two poems one today and one yesterday. One is Trionds Nasty Rumor and the other is Rumors. I’m not going to write any poems of substance until they can clear up the matter.
I emailed them yesterday to clear up the matter that you have brought to our attention. I haven’t heard back yet and it has been a full 24 hours. You must be right that they delete our complaints. Any other site would respond to us with an answer.
I’ll give them one more day to respond and if they can’t, then you must be right that they are selling our stuff to publishers. If that is the case, then tomorrow or the next day, I will writing my goodbye poem to this site. I can’t write for a site thats going to steal my poetry.
I plan to publish it next year and I don’t want to find some company suing me for my stuff.

Philly, one very important correction to your article. I did not say that our work is “sold” to publishers. Remember I wrote in the article comments in August, 2011 the following:
“… I am not saying that our work is sold to publishers. If you look at http://publishers.triond.com/index/how-it-works it says:
//How does Triond for Publishers provide this service without any cost to you? Once you have selected to publish an article from Triond, we embed a single, unobtrusive advertisement in the article.//
It is therefore a question of ownership and rights not of articles being sold.”
Some say that it was only in 2008 that publishers.triond.com operated but I still have seen no real evidence that it no longer exists. The nature of my article, however, was to ask questions rather than to cast blame on Triond since we do not know all the facts.
TThe Triond writer who wrote an article to answer my questions did not do so for he wrote:
“As already noted it appears that the ‘Triond For Publishers’ was something that happened a few years ago and doesn’t happen anymore. So that clearly answers the question ….”
Note the use of the word “appears.” How do we get from the uncertain word “appears” to the words “clearly answers this question”?

I still haven’t heard a single word from Triond. You would think they would be as kind as to answer my concern. It’s quite rude.
