Notes from my memory mark the night,
We took a chance on love regardless of historical plight.
Only lovers know while waged in war what is fair,
I realized peace when there was no one but us there.
Sad to have knowledge of love lost before it began,
I expose my secrets to prove I am love’s true friend.
If life could let us rewind I would relive what we shared,
Nevertheless my heart was at rest with no one but us there.
Candid were the gifts of experience you bestowed,
Your trust in my ability to love is the light you showed.
Wounds from a journey rarely traveled we forebear,
Safety moved me to surrender with no one but was there.
