It took me quite a while to figure out how this site actually works, and how to make money off of it, but I think I finally have.
When I started on this website I published only poetry, for the love of it. I made about 85 cents in six months, but I didn’t really care because I enjoyed it. A few months in, I realized that while most people who used the site were just like me, a few were making actual money- maybe not a monthly income, but at least a little spending cash. I wanted that, but I didn’t want to “sell-out,” per se. My solution was to keep up my poetry account, and to create this one as well. On my ghbrtea account I publish whatever I want- informational articles, essays, how-to’s- whatever I’m in the mood for. Just no poetry.
I’ve had this account for about two months now, and in those two months I’ve seen a huge difference between it and my other one. I promote my articles on this account, and write things that I know people will want to read. My other account is for my personal enjoyment, open to the public but only if they want to explore and not because I’ve forced them to.
I’m telling you this because I think it provides great insight into how Triond works, and how people need to treat it. If you’re here for yourself, be here for yourself and don’t compromise. If you’re here for the money, the keys are quantity, quality and promotion. Write as much as you can about everything you know, and tell people about it.
My personal goal is to put out about five articles a day over the next month, to reach a goal of 300 total articles. At one view per article per day, that will hopefully come to be about 9$ a month, or an extra fifty bucks of spending money twice a year. Of course, more would be great, and after I hit three hundred I plan on continuing, but I think this is a nice starting goal, especially since I’ll be going to college in the fall and won’t have much time to be making back all that money I’ll need to spend.
Depending on how much time you have to devote to this website, your goals may be different. Think long about them, and try to achieve them. Everybody can, it just takes a little commitment and a little understanding of where your priorities are.
