This is very nice story and tips! I agree with you, it’s not about what we want to write, it’s about what they want to read. My most successful articles were also not my best and favorite writing.

Wow, that’s a huge amount of views. Most Triond writers will keep dreaming of those figures. You must be a really good writer.

I had to join other sites to promote articles such as SheToldMe http://tinyurl.com/yavyd9v , which is good as you get more views and you use google’s adsense as well.

Some good tips here. I would agree with lanne though -there seems to be little rhyme or reason. However, the evergreen article is one of which people should take note!

You are right about evergreen articles. The first article that I ever wrote for Triond has never let me down. It always gets 1000plus every month.
But then there are some flukes. I have an article that is 6 mths old ( Vanity Insanity: Painful and Dangerous Beauty Trends Throughout History) and in the past few days has brought in over 18,000clicks and almost $30.00. In the past couple of years several of my older, almost forgotten articles have taken off in this manner and brought in more than all of my new efforts put together. There is no rhyme or reason, it`s just who sees something they like and does something good with it. Good luck with all that you do.

Great article Allison I have noticed the same thing with some of my articles. The one I wrote about missiles and the cold war has over 15,000 views and still gets daily hits. I am not sure why then my chicken divine recipe has risen to over 10,000 views. Its crazy how this works but good info in your article and thanks for the congrats to me on making the hot list.
