Keep Your Articles Green by Making a Ranartre

Ranartre is the acronym for Random Article Redirect. Basically this is an HTML page whose function is to bring a visitor to one of your article randomly. Having a Ranartre is better than making your new visitors choose from among the hundreds of article you’ve written. Too many choices make it hard to decide.

Once in a time, you will get one or two visitors or would be reader coming to your website or blog out of nowhere. These innocent beings might be just someone that unknowingly venture to your domain because the evil search engine brought them there.

Having search function in your website or blogs could help your visitors to find what they want. However, there are another class of new visitors and would be readers that don’t even know what they want. They just happen to stroll along the myriad of links you place in either your website or blog. If you want these kinds of visitors to find something interesting, you will have to make a Random Article Redirect (Ranartre) Page.

The function of a Ranartre page is to redirect your visitor to any random article you ever wrote before. These articles could be either one of your Blog Entries, Triond Article or any article you ever wrote somewhere out there.  By having a Ranartre placed somewhere in your blog or your profile page in any forum you bother to join, you can keep monetizing from old articles. This is because anyone accessing your Ranartre is going to have equal chance of ending up in any of your article, while accessing your profile page will only show them your latest articles. In other word, having a Ranartre is going to keep your old article young, green, productive and make money for you.

Making a Ranartre page is very easy. All you have to do is simply open your notepad and copy the sample code below into your notepad.

After you copy the above code into your notepad, you will have to remember that you are not making Ranartre to promote my articles (although if you want to, you are welcome to do so). You are doing this to promote your articles, so you have to do replace several values in it. You will have to :

  • Change the nlink=6; part with the number of articles you want to include into your Ranartre
  • Change the slink[?]=’?'; part with the URL to your articles. Remember that this array have to be numbered from 0 up to the number of your article minus one. Enter only a single URL for each array element.

After writing the Ranartre code, you will have to save this file as HTML and find a place to host this Ranartre code. For beginners, I would recommend using some free web-hosting service for this purpose. I used geocities.com when I was a beginners in web programming, so I would recommend you to use it as well.

If you already have a Yahoo! account, you simply have to go to geocities.com and sign in. If you don’t have a Yahoo! account before, you will have to make one and sign in to geocities.com. After filling in some simple questionnaire, you will be redirected to Geocities control panel.

This is Geocities Upload File page. Click Browse button and specify where you placed your HTML code in your hard disk. Click Upload Files and your Ranartre is complete and good to go.

For Free web-hosting service, Geocities give you the URL “http://www.geocities.com/your_user_name” to access your website. This is the URL for your Ranartre page. Now, all you have to do is to place this link in your blog, your Triond profile and your profile pages in any website you ever joined. Make sure that you update your HTML file as soon as your newest articles get published by Triond.
