Some advice for beginner writers in how to increase their readability.
It seems that more and more people these days are trying to write and make money at it. Many of the writing sites you join has income generating plans for articles you write. But most of them are based on the number of people who read your articles. Some people generate an excellent income writing in this manner, others do not. For those of you who want to increase your readership here are some good ideas that may help.
The most important way to get people to read your articles is to write not just good article, but excellent ones. That isn’t always easy, and most of us have an article or two, or more we are not proud of. That does not mean that we should not aim to write the best article we can. The more great articles you have the more people who will start to search out your articles.
You also need to write as many articles as you can on a lot of different subjects. The more interest you can generate the more readers you will get.
Once you have several articles that are great, the next step is getting people to read them. The simplest way to begin this process is by copying and pasting all your articles (or at least the cream of the crop) to an email. Send that email to everyone in your emailing address book. Ask them to read your articles and if they like them to forward the email to everyone on their email list asking them to read your articles. Even if everyone does not read them or pass them on a few will and that will increase your readership, particularly if someone likes what they read well enough to find out what else you have been writing.
Another way to help increase your readership is to join sits like Shout out, stumble upon, reddit and others. Make some friends and post your articles or let them post your articles. It gets your writing circulating around the Net, and if you are good, or lucky, or both, people will start passing around your articles more and more.
I am a slowly increasing my readership by using all these methods in addition to word of mouth. I happen to be employed at a terrific place where we all encourage one another’s endeavors whatever they happen to be. I wrote an article about the place I work for a Trazzler contest. My employer liked it so well she ask me to send a list of my other articles to her, she then sent them on to her friends and family.
Just remember, earning an income writing isn’t going to happen over night. It takes time, it takes work, and sometimes it takes a lot of self promotion. In the end it just may be worth it.
