eHow
is a big website that pays you money for posting how-to articles. They use a formula that is easy to follow. It is free to join, and you can write about anything from how-to make a fruit salad to how-to put on your lipstick.
I will guide you through eHow step-by-step to get it running quickly, save time, and frustrations when you start out.
Part One
- Sign up for a free account.
- Sign in to your account and it will take you to your profile page.
- Tell a bit about yourself, your interest, and upload an avatar. Save your work.
- Then on your right hand, click on “Write an Article”.
- On Get Started Page, you will have to give your article a name begins with “How to”. Do not try to delete this. It is protocol.
- Below it, you will have a choice of uploading an image, or a video, and rate your article on how easy or difficult it is.
- Then write a brief introduction to your article. What do you want your readers to know how to do?
- Next to a brief introduction, you will list all the things that your readers will need to finish the task. If you are writing about a recipe, list out all ingredients, and tools to use for that recipe.
- If you are happy with this part, click on “Save and Continue” button.
Part Two
- In this second part, list out the procedures for your article. What is the first step, and what is next?
- When all the steps are done in theirs order, give the readers some helpful hints to accommodate your article. If it is about a recipe, suggest what goes well with that dish, and what they can substitute for a certain ingredients.
- Below the tips section, list something that the readers should look out for. This warning could be “if you are allergic to peanuts, omit them.”
- Click Save and Continue.
Part Three
- In this section, it is a little confusing. There are three boxes of category. Highlight your category in the first box, the second box, and the third box.
- Below the third box, click on “Add Category.” If you do not click on this button, you will not be able to get out of this section.
- Next, add your key words.
- If you want to add other related articles from other writers, click on Search for Related Articles. You can also skip this part; eHow will do it for you.
- Cite your sources, if you have any.
- Click Save and Continue.
Part Four
This is the fun part, click Publish it, and you are done with your article. You can view it online right away, and you are also able to edit after it has been published.
eHow is easy, fast, and fun to write. You earn points for each article you published, and the points are then converted to actual cash. However, you have to drive traffic to your article on bookmarking sites, and befriend with your community. How much you will make, depend on many times your article is viewed. Happy writing!

You make it sound so simple!

Thank you for the helpful information Icy… but the problem with eHow is it does not pay for the articles of non-US residents.

Great info!

Good article but what Valli says is true, they won’t pay non US writers. I found that out after I started writing for them

Precise, step-by-step guidance for novices.

THIS IS A WASTE OF TIME!
IT DOESN’T EXPLAIN THE MOST IMPORTANT PART: HOW DOES EHOW CALCULATE POINTS AND CONVERT THEM TO ACTUAL MONEY. HOW MUCH IS AN ARTICLE WORTH?
EVERYTHING SEEMS LIKE A BLACK BOX. WHY DOESN’T EHOW SHOW US HOW MUCH THEY MAKE OFF OUR ARTICLES AS WELL?
July 10th, 2008 at 11:53 am
Thanx for sharing what you know with us, once again. Simple and straight forward.

I don’t think eHow points ever earn you money. The eHow facts says that ponits earned just determine whether you are listed as a novice, expert, authority, etc. The money comes from signing up for the Writers Compensation Plan.

Does ehow absolutely not pay non US residences??
March 17th, 2009 at 7:56 pm
This is a great article but not actually so accurate. I just started writing for e-How and to be honest I find the payment rules to be completely confusing and somewhat arbitrary. For example, after two days of writing for them I have earned 39 cents. I know the sums add up and are not massive and it takes time but I will tell you how I have earned that as this is why I say it is arbitrary: In two days I have written 12 e-how articles. I have equal numbers if not more, advertisers on some of mine (sponsored google ads that use my articles content to place Google adwords customers I assume) and I have more hits on some articles than the ones I have been paid on. So it seems like neither hits, nor ratings, nor advertisers are sole determining factors as to who gets paid and how much they get paid. There is also nothing in any of the information that answers this question either. This is definitely a bit suspect in my honest opinion as clearly e-how is getting paid by google for posting these ads on my content!

This is a nice post about how to write articles for eHow. It’s great how you have simplified everything by breaking it down into a step by step process.

It’s true, Ali, that the payment formulas are secret and mysterious, but one really can’t judge if it is a waste of time or not unless they have been on eHow for at least 3 months and have about 100 articles on a variety of topics. It really takes some time for the articles to mature, but once they do, you can make hundreds of dollars a month without having to submit more articles
I started in November 2008, have several hundred articles, and make several hundred a month. I don’t publish that many articles these days, but I still get the passive income. I don’t really care how eHow determines the pay structure, so long as I keep making money.

First, thank you all for your comments!
Secondly, eHow has gone through complete make-over at least 2-3 time during last year, and still does..and this article was written more than a year ago.
I also agree with what olled said!
