How to Remain Inspired

This was originally in response to a fellow writer who had a concern about low earnings and a spike and then a drop in page views. Originally, I was going to just send it to the writer however, I realized the questions and answers were probably shared by many other writers and thus, I thought publishing it as an article would be a better choice.

My response follows:

I understand your concerns. While this is not always the case for those magical articles that end up with consistent and growing views, sometimes when you have a really great article, it can become popular very quickly and then fade into the background again just as suddenly. This can be explained by a wide number of reasons, such as its initial high visibility (i.e., in the “Hot Content” list, on the top article page on Quazen, or AuthSpot, etc.) and or subject matter trend, thus, branding it inherently short lived. So, understandably, as this particular type of article’s “new-ness” wears off, so too do its views.

But there is a remedy to this seemingly unsolvable problem.

As I have stated in past articles, linking past articles to new articles is a sure cure to this predicament. It is an extraordinarily effective way to keep all your work in “fresh circulation” and readily accessible to your readers. In addition, the more links an article has, the higher Google ranks your work in its search engine results (I read this somewhere and it makes logical sense).

Expecting higher earnings per page views?

With regard to earnings, I have read somewhere that this varies based on the ads on your article, the website it is published to, etc. Again, this makes logical sense. And from observation, I have noticed that my articles published on Healthmad.com tend to earn more money per view than those that are published on AuthSpot.com.

Stated in the following article:

Rome Was Not Built Overnight

It is, thus, important to keep in mind that Triond is by no means an overnight oasis, (although it could be if you end up with some incredible titles and or produce many articles at once). Instead, if you see it for what it most realistically is, a means to achieve residual income for life and that by producing enough quality material, the numbers alone (i.e. number of articles published, with links, etc) will produce the results you aspire to reach, you will be able to remain focused with a clear understanding of your progress that supports your dreams and keeps your spirits high.

The following article reminds you to always remember to:

Dream Big, Dream Wide, It’s Never Too Late

I once spoke to a billionaire who began his journey to success with only a $1,000 investment. Twenty years later, through steadfast resolve, his vision was materialized in wealth beyond his dreams. If he can do it, so can you! Despite what anyone says, especially yourself (in those moments of self-questioning), you can achieve any level of success you dream of, just believe with everything in your heart that you have no limitations in life and then, take the time to truly understand the reality of the field you have targeted. With these elements in mind, your growing success is unstoppable!

A quick question: would you say that the more tags an article has, the more views it will get? I included my penname on this so you can find me to answer my question.

I like how an article that I have written can ‘become popular again’… Case in point:

I wrote a short love story about the pet ferret that I had back in the 1990s (http://www.authspot.com/Journals/Reminiscing-Trouble.238681).

It receive a few hundred ‘views’ over a one or two day period, then fell to near obscurity for about a month, getting only 2 or 3 views per day.
Then, an article ran on MSN.com about diseases that cats, dogs and hamsters have. Salmonella and listeria-related news stories were big headlines for a few days and suddenly, my story started getting ‘hits’ again! Dozens per hour for awhile!

I have had this happen to several of my articles (including recipes… last month there were a lot of hits for my ricotta-stuffed shells w/ hamburger recipe.) So, it is inspiring for me to check often, try to get ‘good content’ submitted and if lucky, a news-worthy event happens and your content, having already been duly searched & indexed by Google (and submitted to social sites previously) gets many residual views…

I also like to have some image submitted to Picable that I can ‘hyperlink’ into text-based articles so I can get that ‘traffic’ as well. Just one, maybe two per article… I don’t like to bait & switch and, -the images are not crucial to the understanding of the text-based article. But anyone that wishes to, might click the link to view an additional explanative image and I get ‘an outside hit’ for their effort… ;-)

    Best!

Thank you all with all my heart for the wonderful comments.

Dear Mariah, I am answering your question here, and I will email you as well, but I think its a great question and others can benefit from the answer. I think that anytime you make your article more marketable it is a good idea. If you choose top, “hot” keywords, I think that’s what is more important that quantity of keywords used. But, this is just my opinion. I have not researched enough about this subject. If anyone has any specialized knowledge about this, I would love to hear your feedback!

Dear thestickman, your comment is truly inspiring! I am so glad to hear that you are enjoying continued success on your work!

Best wishes & blessings to all.

    Sincerely,

    -Liane Schmidt.
