DISCLAIMER: THE AFOREMENTIONED ARE FICTIONAL CHARACTERS, HOWEVER, SOME MAY EXIST IN REAL LIFE… I BET YOU KNOW WHO THEY ARE…
Hospitals these days are kind of hellish for ordinary staff nurses. No one seems to care about their well being and needs. I have recently been invited to join an elite team of humans in the hope of surviving against the tyranny imposed by the ghastly high ranking officials of our “Not-so-regal-institution” which I prefer calling as “House of the Living Dead (H.O.T.L.D).”
Should you ask why I like calling it as such, first because of all the horrific midnight ghostly stories I heard from the staff and clients. All are second hand information though. Believe me, first hand information from the members of the “other realm” is highly rare to encounter and definitely dreaded by yours truly. And so, second hand info is good enough for me. Second reason for the Label H.O.T.L.D would be the absence, not just the lack of voicing out our complaints. Third, is anarchy; we’re like freaky little zombies walking around being told what to do and how to do things. And the slightest mistakes will be rewarded with a trip to the dungeon where the queen of the damned awaits your presence and lays out your judgment. Well, no queen survives without minions. And so, lurking beneath the shadows of our “House,” the minions take note of all those who forsakes the queen’s orders. Each high ranking minion carries a “score board” of all forms of disobedience. Each mistake that we, few remaining humans make is tallied and should your score merit their attention, you will be judged in front of a council where you will await your trial. The primary punishment will be verbal vilification. Covering your ears is fruitless. Humming the tune of “Jesus take the wheel” will be quite helpful though. Next to that would be written vindication. Aha, my 50 cents will be of good use. A little bit of poetry never hurts anyone. After that would be suspension. To some, it is a form of vacation from the “house of the living dead” now, however, suspension entails additional laborious tasks without compensation. Ooh, villainy- though art the expertise of our queen. Last form of punishment would be eviction. Even the boarders of kuya hate this, how much more for the few remaining humans of the H.O.T.L.D. Well, eviction might be a good escape from the vile torturous events of our House. I guess you will be the judge of that, should you be privileged enough to join our elite team. Those of us who have been hanged or burned at the stake have two paths laid affront. They either become a low thriving minion who becomes obsessed of taking revenge by forsaking the few remaining humans or they strengthen their bonds with the humans so as to protect one another. How amazing human relations work, it is honorable that others follow the road less travelled, yet others go awry, taking the easier road; the road leading them close to the queen where they themselves are transformed into minions. What a waste of human life form. Oh well, I cheer on for the few remaining humans who try to uphold their rights and survive the tyranny. A few more months and I too will have to decide my fate as to whether I would keep fighting or finally leave the “House of the Living Dead” in search for a more heavenly scenario. Hats off to the humans of the H.O.T.L.D!!!!
