Hot Content: Really Not That Hot

What is your say?

I was not so curious about entering into the hot content list, until few weeks back. But when I started noticing articles, which are not so interesting or which have less comments and “Like It” counts, sitting in the top of the hot content list, I just got geared up to achieve the hot content list. I changed my way of writing. Instead of writing on something, I started writing on something that matters.

Those mattered articles got hundreds of views within few hours, with few comments and “Like It”. But I couldn’t enter hot content. I didn’t hurry up. I thought of learning the art slowly. So I searched for articles about hot content. But even long time and great writers like Louie Jerome said in their articles like ”Why Hard Work will not get you onto the Hot Content List”, that they are not so sure about how it is listed.

So I sent my question to the support team, asking for clarifications. But they said there are various parameters used by the algorithm which picks the hot content list, which they cannot share for obvious reasons (I don’t understand what those obvious reasons are).

Yesterday I wrote an article about Breast Cancer, as October is a month of breast cancer. I thought it will get into hot content for sure and will help in spreading more awareness. But unfortunately it didn’t. But there are few articles topping in the list, which were just a piece of news about breast cancer. No offense towards those authors. They did the good job of writing. But I felt sad and bad, that why not a useful article, that too relevant for this month is not coming up. I don’t say that only my article about Breast Cancer should top in the list. I would be happy if any others articles in that topic with more useful data come in the list.

Just eager to know whether all other writers are happy with the triond algorithm of choosing the HOT CONTENT?

exactly..recently i had submitted a beautiful article about this week India is celebrating,”joy of giving” and i really wanted it to get it published but it got declined at least it was better than other hot content articles i have read before..
i don’t understand what criteria they follow for the acceptance and categorization of the articles

Acceptance depends on a combination of things including standard of work, grammar, spelling, originality (if bits are cut ‘n’ pasted the article will be rejected). It also depends on how many very similar articles have been published. It’s very much an editorial decision.

As for the Hot Content list, I too have been told that they use an algorithm to select suitable articles. The only thing I have to say there is that algorithms like all other computer software, work on the same basis: RIRO = Rubbish In Rubbish Out !!

Thanks for the mention. Much appreciated.

Hot content is a myth and really they don\’t have any parameters.perhaps they have some preconceived notions what they say as algorithm. The irony is these algorithm does not fit in with an online magazine or a print magazine. If anyone believes that he quite often finds a place in the hot content list of Triond and so he or she will get published in a magazine, he or she will will only get stupefied.Quality content has no place in the hot content. For example an article just says \’ I get a number messages most of them spam . Hence I delete them\’ Is it a matter for hot content. The irony is when the article with no stuff find a place in the hot content, it gets more views and organised comments as well. The above said article remained in the hot list for a number of days.Whereas some articles with real quality some times finds a place in the hot content and they remain there only for a few hours. This algorithm is not based on any reason or logic.Again another grave error that takes place in the hot content is it mostly exhibits more than two or sometimes even three articles. It is an injustice committed to another genuine writers. It should a rule that at a time an author is eligible to have only one article in the hot hot content. It will encourage many writers and boost up their income. If such sorry state of things continued without any rhyme or reason, many genuine writers may switch over to some other sites, including me.Because the web world is larger than the real world.

I have no interest in the hot list, What I am interested is writing an article I think more people might want to read and that won’t be too boring for someone to click on. I also try to return every comment. I do miss a few sometimes but not many. I appreciate all my frfiends who do look at my articles.

Your article on breast cancer was exhaustive and very interesting. I expected to see it in the hot content.

‘which are not so interesting or which have less comments ‘

    dear,

today I checked the hot content list and found nothing that interests me ..

it doesn’t necessarily mean they aren’t hot. there must be other people who love to read them.

and sure there should be specific parameters which we aren’t allowed to validate .

since it has improved your writing, if you keep working, one day your articles too start coming in hot content list. forget about it and do your best.
