A relatively unknown fantasy adventure novel is circulating within the craft show circuit in the lower peninsula of Michigan, in the United States. This fantasy adventure novel, the first of 12 planned books, details the path of the villain, detailing how simple choices can lead a person’s life from paradise to condemnation, from peace to war, and from democracy to dictatorship.

What is the title of this unknown novel?  The Epic of Cougran, Adventures in Raoolia.

The first three books in Epic of Cougran series tells about how a society transforms from paradise to utter hell. The first book in the series, Adventures in Raoolia, begins on the fictional planet Cougran, in a far off galaxy located in the constellation Eridanus.  The story begins in the middle of a chase scene, with a character named Liotoch running for his life.  The reader discovers that he is being chased by seven ten-foot tall beasts called Tigrens, and that they destroyed his camp and are trying to take his life.

The leader of these Tigrens is named Denzcan.  He is a very angry, possessive character who orders the other six Tigrens around and uses threats of violence to make sure that they obey him.  They chase Lio to a village called BellBour; where he informs the guards that he is being chased by wild Tigrens. It is at this time that the reader discovers that these seven individuals are unusual and should not exist in society.  Tigrens live at an Academy and are separated from the normal population, called Carcalians, at birth.

The governor of this village is informed of Lio’s situation, and he asks for volunteers to go out and verify that there are indeed wild Tigrens running around. Four volunteers step forward, and they leave the village in a quest to capture one alive.  After setting traps for these Tigrens, one of the Tigrens is used as bait by the other six in order to capture Lio and the volunteers. After the Carcalians are captured, (the volunteers from BellBour Village and Lio), Denzcan decides to capture the village to prevent them from informing the normal Tigrens (government) of their existence.

Denzcan and his six Tigrens succeed in capturing BellBour Village and burn it to the ground.  Denzcan informs the villagers that they are his property and that he has a big project in store for them.  Meanwhile, unknown to Denzcan, two survivors of BellBour who had not been in the village at the time it was captured overheard his declaration of ownership over the people of BellBour.  They went directly to the government to inform them of the situation, after narrowly escaping one of the other six Tigrens’ attempt to stop them.

After capturing the village, Denzcan travels south to investigate a meteorite that has crash-landed. He journeys three days before reaching his target. When he arrives, he cuts a piece of the rock off for a belt as a symbol of status. But a strange event occurs when he gazes into the rock, he receives absolute power, which fuses to his body and starts a forest fire. Denzcan realizes, after wishing that the forest fire had never started and the forest returns to normal, that he has received enormous power. At this point, Denzcan decides that he is going to crown himself leader, and force the other six Tigrens into a hierarchy, renaming himself Master RRandoll.

Master RRandoll discovers that he has been awarded absolute power. He can fly, move things with thoughts and gestures, change living things into anything he wants, and he can create anything that is mind can conceive.  He decides to construct a temple, turn the captives from BellBour into sphinxes, transform the other six Tigrens into obedient Minotaurs, and send them against the Tigren government, who has sent a team of 12 commandoes to deal with these mysterious Tigrens.

The Tigrens find the Minotaurs and a battle occurs, leaving the Tigrens beaten and shaken to the core. They return to the castle after loosing the two Carcalian witnesses and half of their team. Master RRandoll then sends his six Minotaurs to Shalou City to transform all of the inhabitants into a Minotaur Army, so he can start a war with the government. After the city has been transformed, he realizes that the nearby nation of Sphynxia, where he built his temple, is also a threat to his power, so he divides his forces and sends them to wipe out both governments.

After enslaving all the inhabitants of the two governments, he supernaturally raises the seafloor and joins the two continents, then sends his Minotaur army to convert the inhabitants of Sphynxia. The joining of the two continents sends a massive tidal wave east, flooding the nations of Nidia, Cougranada, and Lexinia, prompting the Nidians to investigate what caused the disaster. As they circumnavigate the globe, they run into two survivors from the Raoolian government who inform them that a massive army has conquered Raoolia.  Other teams navigating the globe discover that the two continents of Sphynxia and Raoolia have joined.

Both pieces of information are presented to the government of Nidia and its governing council decides to send a fleet of 500 ships to the continent to contain the disaster, and ground teams to gather information. Master RRandoll takes the opportunity to send his Minotaurs to the ships, and secures 440 of them. It is at this time that the reader begins to discover that Master RRandoll wants to rule the world, and now he has the tools to execute his plan.

This exciting fantasy adventure story is but the first in a larger story, which is The Epic of Cougran. The larger story consists of the 12 books. The first trilogy of books is about the Conquest of Cougran. The second trilogy is about the origins of Denzcan’s power.  The third trilogy is about the hero that is summoned to deal with the Conquest of Cougran, and the fourth trilogy is the resolution to Cougran’s damnation.
