How to set up a blog with Word Press as a way to get traffic to your site and or blogs.
Have you ever wondered how in the world are you going to increase traffic to your website? One of the answers is to write blogs. One of the best traffic providing blog sites is Word Press. I remember the first time, I checked it out, I registered, and it sat in my tasks box, for me to come back later and learn what I am to do with this, since I understood, INCORRECTLY, that you must download it first. You do not have to Download Word Press, especially if you are not tech savvy. The choice yours. I am going to tell you right now, how to do a Word Press Blog.
1. Go to Google, and search Word Press. Ignore Word Press Download. Click on Word Press.com. You do not have to worry about not having a web hosting provider, because Word Press hosts your blog for you, for Free. So all you need to do now is to sign up, and wait for your confirmation to come in your email, and click on the confirmation link, which takes you back to the Word Press site.
2. You will have to put in a username. Your username will be part of your domain name. So it should relate to what your blog is going to be about. You can also just name it Angies Blog if you want to, as an example. Choose your password, then click yes on the Terms of Service and then click where it says “Gimme Blog.”
3. Now you will choose your blog domain name, which can be the same as your user name. Add a title which is relevant to your subject. If you are promoting, lets say, Leggos, then create a title around your Leggos product.
4. You will also see a privacy block, click yes for that. This will enable Word Press to get your blog to various sites, which will result in more traffic for you.
5. The them button, is simply choosing the appeance of you blog. So go through the various templates and pick one out. You can always change it later. Then click on preview, and you will have an idea as to how your blog will look, even though you have not entered any content in there yet.
6. The Dashboard allows you to manage your blog. The settings are set as default settings. So you can ignore these until you are done writing you blog. The settings will allow you to change font, add color to your text etc.
7. When you click on Posts, you will see Hello World, which is nothing more than a default post by Word Press, so delete that post.
8. You will continue with add new with a personal note, and be sure to add Please Bookmark this page, and come back soon.
9. Your tags are nothing more than relevant keywords to the content of your blog. This is very important for search engine optimization, which also increases the traffic to your blog.
Before you publish it you will see angiesblog.wordpress.com, as an example. This is your URL. Copy it, put it into your browser, after opening another tab, to see if you blog appears. If not, you may have to make some corrections.
Your blog can be on any topic. In fact, your first one could be a bit about you, what you are interested in, and maybe about the topics you might be writing about at a later date. Make it personal for those who are reading your blog, and most of all, make it interesting.
You will also see a insert link box. If you are promoting a site, or an article you have written elsehwere, put that URL in this box. You wordpress url does not go here. The target box, click on open new window. This will enable viewers to view your site, while keeping your blog open to them as well. The title should be the product, etc which your blog is about.
Once you have completed all of your steps, click Publish. Then F5 to refresh. You will see a categories box, which you can type in lets say: legos, toys, angie’s blog, if you are promoting legos. I think you have the idea.
Now once you have completed everything, you just click on preview, and then publish it. Do not worry if you do not like what you see, because you can always go back and make changes. Actually, I was surprised as to how easy using Word Press is.
When you are trying to promote a biz, an affiliate link, etc, you need to get as much traffic directed to you and your site as you possibly can. People get tired of being taken directly to a sales page. A blog is a great way for others to get to new you, for you to gain credibility, as well as getting that traffic to you, rather than someone else. You should at least submit 2 blogs a week.
