Finding a freelance writing job is harder than you think.
After searching and searching for days, I happened upon several, seemingly legit sites. Sure, you can view jobs, but you cannot apply. Most of the rates for these sites are outlandish. I have yet to hear that they work.
Associated Content seems to be the most reputable site as of yet. The problem being, getting the viewership to get the money.
We all know we’re not going to get rich freelancing, but there are so many scams out in this big wide world.
Watch for anything asking you for money.
Usually, if they’re asking you for money, they are not legit.
Do your research on the sites and business that you are applying to.
Most of all, remember, freelance writing is not a get rich quick thing. If you’re promised that, chances are, it is not legit.

So far the only online money site that I deal with is Triond. I like how simple it is to publish on the site and they send you your money when they say they will. As I try to get more page views on Triond I would like to find other sites to write on. But as you point out it’s not that easy.
http://www.authspot.com/Short-Stories/Girls-Gone-Wild.699307 and http://www.writinghood.com/writing/10-great-flash-fiction-ideas/ are my two most popular pieces on Triond.
