There are many different ways to construct titles for your article. Titles play a very big role in, not only giving some ideas on what your article is about, but also to determine whether readers would want to read your article. In a way, it plays a part to determine the popularity of your articles. Here are some great article titles to attract attention of your readers.
1) “How To” titles
One of the reasons why people browse for information on the internet is to find out how to do something. In this internet age, people want to do things themselves, in an effort to save cost or time or both. “How-to” articles become very popular. There are even writing sites that specialises in “how-to” articles such as eHow.
2) A Question
Some articles begin with a burning question. For example, the other day I was writing a review on a milk product and was wondering how much calcium do I need as an adult. I googled “how much calcium do you need?” and found a list of articles pertaining to this. Such articles are popular because people ask such questions all the time and they want quick answers from the internet.
3) “List” titles
List titles are also popular. Some examples include Five Simple Formats for Articles and Six Not-So-New Writing Ideas. By giving specific figures, readers anticipate the value of the articles. If readers need lots of ideas, the more (the larger the number), the merrier.
4) Special Words
Add special words into your article titles, for example, easiest/simplest, cheapest/most expensive, fastest, etc. Instead of writing Green Tea Ice Cream recipe as your article title, write Easiest Green Tea Ice-Cream recipe. By add “Easiest” at the beginning of the title, it makes your title more effective and target your readers better.
5) Titles about Current Issues
I’m not very good at churning out articles based on Current issues. But these kind of titles sell in the short run. A particular current issue interest many people, for example, articles about Tiger Woods’ affairs would sell like hotcakes when it was first announced.
What makes your readers want to read your article compared to the next one? Many times, it is merely the phrasing of an article title which makes a different whether to click on your article. Thus, put some thoughts into your titles before submission. It may make a lot of difference!
