Part IV
“Father!” I gasped painfully. I winced as I sat up against the rock. I opened my eyes, I saw Father looming over me with a rusty old knife in his shaking hands. I looked deep into my father’s eyes, and I thought I saw, not the wickedness like before, but worry and regret. “Korah!” “Korah!” I heard the others call. Father, still standing over me heard them as well. Father started to sob, he fell to his knees and dropped his knife. “Oh Korah, I am sorry, I’m sorry I brought danger and possible death into your lives.” He sobbed, “Please tell Lucy I’m sorry, and that I miss her!” he begged. I nodded and he smiled weakly, “Thank you.” He whispered, and he ran off into the forest.
I was too shaken to realize when Lucy, Evra, Steve and his friends got there. “Korah, are you alright?” Lucy asked. I only nodded. “Korah, what happened?” she asked, realizing something was wrong. I told her what happened and how father had come to me and what he said. Lucy’s face paled with fear and sorrow. “Oh no!” she cried. “Korah, what kind of danger do you think he meant?” she asked. I shook my head, “I wish I knew, but I think we are going to find out soon.” I said. I stood up and flexed my muscles. I had no broken bones, but I was bruised and it was a little hard to stand.
“Well, I want to help.” Said Evra. “Whatever’s going on I want to help you get through it, or maybe even help you out of it.” He said. The others nodded in agreement. I shook my head, “No, you guys have a family here, I don’t want to drag you into danger. No you wont help.” I said. “I’m sorry.”
