English Speaking Lesson (Fake Twist)

SPEAKING TACTIC:

Twist is a powerful element of a great story. A fake twist is even more powerful. By misleading the listeners/readers to a fake twist, they will be greatly surprised by the real twist. Technically, this story has two twists- the fake twist and the real thing.

SPEAKING TASK:

Tell a fiction ironic love story with two twists.

1. Discuss the unknown reason why a certain couple broke up. End the introduction with a question implying a possible reason why the couple broke up. (The first assumed reason)
2. Tell that the implied breakup reason was reason because one character found out why  they broke up. (This is the fake twist.)
3. Tell that the character’s reason (in #2) was also wrong. Then, give the real twist- the first assumed reason was right.

SPEAKING TIPS:

When delivering the fake twist, say it like it is the ending of the story. That will surprise the audience that the story is not really ended yet.
