E Book Errors

When you do something for the first time, you could well make some pretty basic mistakes along the way, but getting villified for them seems somewhat ridiculous.

OK everybody, I hold my hands up and admit that I was maybe a bit too enthusiastic about my latest project, that e-book which I have just released on Kindle, and about which I got way too excited in some respects. I have to give my heartfelt thanks to Sheila Barnhill for being thus far the only person to buy it, and she has been incredibly complimentary about the contents, which made me very proud.

Of course I realized very quickly that I had in fact put too high a selling price on the book, so I am in the process of getting that adjusted by Amazon. I will admit to being more than a little offended by the very unkind comments made by John Watson VI in the forum, but then everyone is entitled to their opinion, even if it should be completely wrong, as his comments most certainly were.

Putting the book together, even if it is a relatively short one, was not an easy task and I felt/feel justifiably proud of having managed it.that I managed it. I know my fiction is good because I have won awards for it, which I would quite happily discuss with anyone who who wants to know.  My next project will be a collection of short stories that are science fiction based – I won £250 first prize for a sci-fi story once- and i am certain those who read it will approve.

I do not expect everyone to like what I do, but I do think that the least people can do is pay respect to the effort that went into the creation of any piece of written work, whether it is to their taste or not. The number of positive comments I get about the posts I produce number in the hundreds now, averaging around 20 every day, so it seems that the vast majority of readers of my work see it wildly differently from the vitriolic Mr Watson.

The writing of a book was a cherished ambition, and once I had the idea I admit I plunged headlong into it without giving the whole thing enough forethought, but sometimes the only way one learns is by trying, and I intend to take lessons from the experience so far.  my fiction is good, like the rest of my writing, but my books may need to be a bit more carefully considered in the future.

However you care to cut it, the fact is that I actually DO HAVE an e-book on the market, hopefully now at a much more reasonable price, and if you want an evening of cheap but stimulating entertainment, you need look no further than buying the thing and curling up on the sofa to read it. All great things have small beginnings, and I have every intention of doing all I can to achieve writing greatness, so watch this space.

Haters are going to hate. At least you know you are doing well by your hater. Most of the time haters are just jealous because they can’t do what you do. I have a handful of haters but the lovers outweigh the haters so I know I’m doing good. Just wish people would buy my own books. LOL. Some books were bought so far though. Maybe I should advertise more and once I get money up I will be buying your book.

The ones that made such rude comments just wish they could write as well as you do Tony. I made the same exact mistake when I first published my ebook too.

I personally congratulating you for your accomplishments in making an e-book (advanced). Every online writer or some of us aims to have a published e-book. Go Tony..

Congrats !!!!!!! I have a few e-books as well, but they aren’t going anywhere. I’m thinking of just pulling them and not bother to publish anymore. Excellent article. Well done on your accomplishments. Keep up with the great work. :) Keep on penning. Thank you so very much for sharing your wonderful and creative talents with us. We all truly appreciate it.

As an author, I compliment you for finally getting your first book published. Few understand the effort and “work” it takes to write a book, and even less, when it comes to ebooks. I have over “24″ various editions out which I put out just this summer, from four books I have published. Most critics, come from the lack of being able to accomplish what you went after. Though short, Tony, your ebook will go over well, and intend to buy it myself here soon. As for your price?, I think you are giving it away as it is. Search “Amen John I” anywhere and you will see what mine go for. In any edition, work is work and you my friend are a very good writer….

Don’t worry too much about the ‘Monday’s experts”!! You’ve every right to feel chuffed at your achievements. I felt that way too and I feel as pleased as punch to have at least sold 3 copies of mine in over a month!!
Just keep doing what you’re doing – but where’s the link for your book???

1st – it’s wonderful that you put the ebook out there. I appreciate the wook it must have taken.

2nd – I’ve heard that it helps to have a thick skin when you put anything out there but I wonder if that is at all ;possible- after all, you worked on that baby, and someone comes along and doesn’t appreciate it- you know what, he doesn’t have to buy it or like it. I imagine someone plunked down $25.95 for a King novel and hated it. Not King’s fault.

3rd- Like you said, 1st try – you get a “mulligan”. Id lkke to put one out there as my mulligan, just have to cobble one together.

4- pricing- I read an article, this year in fact, about a writer putting his book on B&N for $2.99 and got dismal sales. He put it at $.99 and he was amazed at the reaction. It seems that there are a lot of people who think one US dollar is nothing to take a chance on an entertaining book. They blanch at three US dollars for the same chance. It’s strange but probably human nature.

5- congratulations! Go out and publish more!
