Doctor Doom

Victor von Doom better known as Doctor Doom was conceived by writer stan lee and jack kirby. He is a fictional character who appears in marvel comics publications. The character first appeared in fantastic four in july 1962. He wore a metal mask and a green clock. Which later became his trademark. Doom is a supervillian and an his famous oppenents include the fantastic four, spider men, doctor strange, the avenger, silver surf, X-men, punisher, blade, iron man, blade. He is also the leader of the fictional nation of Latveria. He is known to be a genuis inventor, sorcerer, mind transferal, technopathy and has a very high level of intellect and a power armor.

Jack Kirby modeled Doom after death, with the armor standing in for that character’s skeleton. “It was the reason for the armor and the hood. Death is connected with armor and the inhuman-like steel. Death is something without mercy, and human flesh contains that mercy.” Kirby went on to say that “Doom is an evil person, but he’s not always been evil. He was respected (sort of)…but through a flaw in his own character, he was a perfectionist.” At one point in the Seventies, Kirby drew his interpretation of what Doom would look like under the mask, giving Doom only “a tiny scar on his cheek.” To Kirby, this is the motivation for Doom’s vengeance against the world; because others are superior due to this slight scar, Doom wants to elevate himself above the world. In some early stories glimpses of his face is shown, in which he seems to be bald.

Considering the fictional character of doctor doom.I have managed to come up with a short biography of him. Victor von Doom was born decades ago to a tribe of latverians under the rule of an unnamed nobleman called the baron. Victor’s father, Werner, was the leader of the tribe and a renowned medicine man who kept his wife’s witchcraft quiet in order to protect Victor from a similar fate. Soon after Cynthia’s(Dr dooms mother) death, the Baron’s wife grew incurably ill from cancer and Werner was called to heal her. When she succumbed to illness, the Baron labeled Werner a murderer and called for his death. Werner escaped with young Victor, having realised the night before the women would die. He died  on the mountainside, cradling the boy in a final embrace and giving him his garments to keep him warm. Victor survived and returned to the gypsy camp, discovered his mother’s occult instruments and swore revenge on the Baron. Victor grew into a headstrong and brilliant man, combining sorcery and technology to create fantastic devices to keep the Baron’s men at bay and protect the gypsies. His exploits attracted the attention of the dean who Offered the chance to study in America, Doom chooses to leave his homeland and his love, Valeria, behind. Once in America, Victor met fellow student and future nemesis reed richards, who was intended to be his roommate, but Doom disliked him and asked for another roommate. After some time, Victor constructed a machine intended to communicate with the dead. Though Richards tried to warn him about a flaw in the machine, seeing his calculations were a few decimals off, Victor continued on with disastrous results. The machine violently failed and the resulting explosion seemingly severely damaged his face. Expelled after the accident he travelled the world until he collapsed along a Tibetian mountainside. Rescued by a clan of monks, Victor quickly mastered the monks’ disciplines as well as the monks themselves. Victor then forged himself a suit of armor, complete with a scowling mask, and took the name Doctor Doom. As Doom, he would go on to menace those he felt responsible for his accident—primarily, Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four. He succeeded in taking over Latveria.

Talking about his power and abilities, He was very knowledgeable in scientific creation. He is depicted constructing numerous devices in order to defeat his foes or to gain more power and control. He made doombots they were the exact replicas of himself. He would use them in a situation where he felt that his presence could be life threatening. Teachings from the monks lead him to be mystical.He is capable of energy projection, conjuring energy fields, summoning hordes of demonic creatures. He posses incredibly strong will. Even without his armor he proves himself to be a skilled bare- handed fighter who is capable of causing incredible damage. in addition to everything , his armor is capable of generating force field, giving electric shocks and is fully self- supporting with air, water, food and energy. this lets the wearer to survive in unforgiving environment for a long time.

On many occasions, Doom’s only real weakness has been shown to be his arrogance. He is incapable of accepting his own failures. Doctor doom is one of those characters who posses the ability to do a lot of good, but due to his arrogance he has chosen a wrong path. Doctor Doom sticks to a strict code of honor at all times. He is a man of his word, no matter the consequences. He is not a sadist. he does not derive joy from hollow and meaningless killings. If you save his life, he is bound to save yours even if you are his enemy.

He is one of the most famous villain of all time. being ranked as the 4th best villain by the “Wizard”. But something about him makes us feel that “overlook his monstrous side and just take a glance at his good side and we will find that a little doctor doom resides in our self too”……
