There is a dangerous rumour spreading on Triond at the moment about what languages are allowed for posts. Please read this article for clarification!
Some users (both new and “old”) have stated in comments that posting articles in other languages than English was allowed now or rather “no longer forbidden”.
As Triond does not have the language set to solely English within their terms of service, there has always been a lot of rumours about this topic.
I personally know two users who are posting articles in other languages and they state that their works were not deleted.
The problem here is: Just because they have not yet been deleted or were not declined in the first place, does not mean that they are allowed!
In case you do not believe me, you can see the latest question about it on the Help Center HERE.
We all know that Triond does not always catch guideline violations when they are posted and many spam articles are not detected unless we flag and therefore report them. This also applies for articles in other languages, e.g. Tagalog or Croatian. But just because they are posted does not mean they are allowed!
It is correct that there is no such rule in the terms of service and this is where Triond should act immediately
Please do not post in other languages than English.

Please excuse any mispelling as I dislocated the elbow on my hand that I type with. I should be better by next week.
Great article! I noticed other languages, but didn’t know what they were as I only know French and a bit of Polish. Thanks for telling me what the languages were

Interesting subject for debate.

Hmm always thought that you had to write your articles in English anyway. Didn’t think that this was a question.

Always seems to be someone who does not either read the rules or think the rules do not apply to them. Good article.

I only write in English. Still this is good information for anyone who isn’t sure about what is acceptable by Triond Standards

Thanks a lot Stine but i will write on Croatian long long time. 2 are reasons. First if something is forbiden then must be on terms of service. TOS! Well in tos that dont exist, so that can be illegal. Secound triond accepts my work and send me no wornings. Thats all what i can say. Beside, what do they care, they have money from us, and why i will not post for people in croatia who does not speak croatian. I dont care about triond, im here to help people and to be good friend. Thanks. Beside i understand about language ond triond, i know english is only language that triond have, but when in TOS is not forbiden than is not forbiden, sorry but that is just easy and simple. Have a nice day people

Pardon: for people who does not speak english
My bad. And people who dont believe just go to TOS! Secound my articles were not delitet becouse of language, they were deleted becouse flaging, i dont now why but that is it. Beside, none of my new articles is deleted since then. And if triond do not have other languages how in at least 90 percent he drop my articles in good category? Ask yourself that. Tnx and good day people

I never came across articles in other languages. I think they should have the option but there should be different categories for them which seems like a lot of work and then there would be posting in wrong category….. I suppose the website is in English and majority of the people on it are English speakers so it just makes more sense that way if there aren’t more categories. Anyways good post.

Yes, we should follow triond rules in posting articles. We should publish only in English.
September 1st, 2011 at 11:25 pm
nice share.

..Very informative, thanks.

I agree.

I have no problem if Triond only allows English content but they should include that in their TOS like what other sites do so as to avoid confusion. Since I joined Triond in 2009, there have also been articles published in Spanish. In 2010, Triond published Tagalog articles from a number of Filipinos (not just 2) and these articles have been getting good amount of organic traffic. It was only lately that Triond made it clear on getsat that they only allow English content at the moment. It’s good they did, because obviously, the situation is creating much confusion. But I strongly suggest Triond issues an official guideline clarifying which languages are allowed for publication since not all Triond users go to getsat. If they say only English content is allowed, that is perfectly fine with me. However, flagging a Tagalog article for insufficient quality is quite erroneous. Anyone with common sense will never deduce that a non-English article is of poor quality.
Thanks for bringing this to your readers’ attention.

Bakit nawala ung comment ko… tsk tsk… I was saying maybe Triond Mngt should consider revising their policies to clarify such matter…
September 2nd, 2011 at 2:15 am
It is OK with me but I did not know there is a rule about it. Thanks.
September 2nd, 2011 at 2:20 am
Aw, I was thinking of publishing my articles in Tagalog but now, pfft.
September 2nd, 2011 at 5:51 am
Why did Triond clarify this “English only content” only now? If someone had not asked about it, we would not have known there is such a rule. Tagalog articles have been published for a long time (I think for over a year) and never did Triond warn the writers about it. So this is Triond’s problem, not the writers’. Thanks for clarifying something that Triond should have done long before.
By the way, you could submit a “fix” for this article due to typo error (”no loner forbidden”). It means a total different thing. I’m sure you meant “no longer forbidden.”
September 2nd, 2011 at 5:53 am
*… totally different thing.
September 2nd, 2011 at 7:13 am

September 2nd, 2011 at 1:22 pm
I can only wish that I was bilingual- thanks for the info
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:05 am
Interesting article, I thought all publications went through an approval process can this not detect articles not written in English?
September 3rd, 2011 at 8:47 am
Stine1 – do you hate Tag-alog? Just tell me then so that I can delete you as my friend. You are too different. Why like that my friend…?
September 4th, 2011 at 12:35 pm
Hi stine1. I did some research on this and here is my info on this issue: http://writinghood.com/writing/foreign-languages-on-triond/
September 4th, 2011 at 6:55 pm
I’d rather see people posting well-written articles in their native language than posting barely-readable ones in English.
September 5th, 2011 at 11:54 am
Agree with you, althought I wish publishing in other languages were allowed.
September 6th, 2011 at 5:18 am
pruelp, did I say anything against Tagalog here?
Didn’t you read the sentence from Triond staff that only English is allowed?
September 6th, 2011 at 6:06 am
Only English is a better option because this gives every writer a bigger chance to be read and understood than if they write in their native languages only. Can you imagine what will happen to my articles if they’re written only in Bulgarian or Russian for example?
September 10th, 2011 at 7:47 pm
Thank you for posting this article for warning. For people who does not know English shouldn\’t join Triond. Because Triond have a right to rule for users to post in only English contents.

Thank you!
