Do you know anybody who gives a such a ruthless comment as complete rubbish? I know one. Seing his comments on others work for several times, I wonder if he’ll ever give a positive comment.Be it a brilliant piece or a well done article, his line remains the same. What’s wrong with him? Why did he even bother to comment? I’ll totally agree if he’s gonna criticize the work but it seems that he didn’t even take time to read and appreciate the thought the writer has to offer. Then my brother told me, maybe that’s his way of asking you to comment back. We are at times easily annoyed and is determined enough to defend ourselves and fight back, then eventually we’ll take a look on his work if he’s that good to qualify for those rude comments.Negative or positive isn’t the matter. He wants your views. I guess my brother is right but it sounds silly. Why multiply your enemies when you can actually add up your friends? Instead of harsh words, give constructive criticisms but if you’re someone who don’t feel like criticizing for fear of offending, encourage. Encourage somenone and they’ll never forget you just as what William Arthur Ward said, flatter me and I may not believe you. Criticize me and I may not like you. Ignore me and I may not forgive you. Encourage me and I will not forget you.

I know the person of which you speak. I have been his victim on several occasions. I wrote an article about him called “Triond Trolls: They Do Exist”. You can tell your brother that in this case, hes is wrong. If you go to this person’s profile, you will find not one article. He is not doing it to get your views and comments, he is just a mean-spirited person.

That’s a bummer. Sorry to hear that someone had to be so critical. It is sad that this has to happen here.

I have the same thing happening to me from the same person! Thanks for putting the word out there!
October 21st, 2009 at 10:03 am
I know the person you’re referring to.

Vent it. The “troll” has a ghost profile. He posts under a different name. I got hit with “Utter crap.” He’s not far off. I did think just simple crap would have sufficed. lol.

Trolls of the triond community. They have nothing better to do. I wrote two articles on this topic and named them bullies. In the article, I talk about the incident. If it’s the same person Mr. Bultman is referring to, he also wrote some stuff on mine that I don’t know how to write poetry. Next time it happens just delete it or tell that person off. I am really good at that. I don’t care if they think I am rude. But this type of person needs to be set straight so they can find some other type of distraction.

Nice article and good point. I come from the school; If you cannot say something constructive do not say anything at all. Keep up the excellent write.

People like that are looking for attention and have nothing better to do. Unfortunately, there will always be people like that.

Oh no, Jane Jane, very curious, have you deleted his comment? Which article of yours with that comment? That’s bad..

I think it is so sad when people have to offend for no good reason. Good for you for speaking up.

My grandfather was at a restaurant once where the waitress was pretty much being atrocious. The patrons were actually complaining to her face. So when she came to my grandparents table, he just smiled at her real big and said she looked lovely today. They ended up getting wonderful service.
It is so much easier to do better when you are given good recognition.
I enjoyed this article!

Interesting topic. If I get a bad or scathing comment, I simply do not pay attention to them. If they write on Triond, I look them up to get a clue about their comments. However, I do have one person who leaves a bad comment now and then, but not insulting. I think this person is just trying to give constructive critcism, but they do not really know how. Mostly, their comments are very good. People who continually leave bad comments have a problem with themselves, not us. Great post!

Great article, but I totally agree with you Will – by rising to the bait, they win and get a kick out of upsetting someone.
My advise is just to ignore them – after all every time a troll clicks on your site, good comment or bad comment, they are still earning you money…

you can delete your trolls from your news feed but sadly not from your comment boxes, i liked your article on this subject, i found it most interesting.

Trolls will be trolls, and obviously, when someone doesn’t have anything constructive to say, it says a lot about his/her ability to critique work and professionalism (if he/she is a serious writer). It all comes down to serious writers and the rest (trolls). Ignore the troll and focus on becoming the best writer you can be.

The best thing for you to do is to continue trying to be the best writer you can be.

Nice rant, glad you got that off your chest

Like the old saying, “If you cannot say anything nice, do not say anything at all.” Who is this person?

Good article. Its true that different types of comments have different effects.
October 22nd, 2009 at 1:18 am
Just ignore the comments and delete!
October 22nd, 2009 at 4:54 am
I have had this kind of problem on other sites, but why say it’s Complete Rubbish?? I think some people have great joy in knocking other peoples confidence. But one or two bad comments are bound to happen. Obejective critisism is welcome that’s how we become better writers that kind of comment is not and is best ignored!
October 22nd, 2009 at 1:37 pm
I agee with your satement, please read the article I wrote (writing etiquette). We have a few trolls on this site.
October 22nd, 2009 at 9:14 pm
I agree with Guy Hogan – be the best writer you can and don’t worry about the trolls who are not important in your life.

These spoil your day, making you ashamed in front of others.Same as above.
October 23rd, 2009 at 2:32 pm
interesting. I have seen all these articles about trolls, and I have yet to even have a significant amount of comments on my triond publications… what am I doing wrong? I will settle for trolls… I just don’t have comments, LOL!

Maybe you’re making good english while not living in England kabayan. You made a nice article out of that comment. The comments speak for itself.
October 23rd, 2009 at 8:04 pm
The best thing you can do about bad comments is just delete them using your triond dashboard.
October 25th, 2009 at 8:58 pm
He who knows not and knows not that he knows not is a fool.
ignore him!
