Garbage articles pushed through to get the 5, 10 or 20 percent bonus, and now, more recently, people trying to satisfy the notion that more time means better quality. That is why we need a cheat proof Triond challenge.
It should be made a mystery. If people don’t know what they are working towards, they can’t malevolenty manipulate the odds in their own favor.
Come up with some challenge, perhaps a combination of secret weekly and monthly challenges. Most referrals gathered in a month, most articles written in a week, most views gotten in a month(from new articles only), most comments in a month(on new articles), etc. Give out a bonus of, say 5, 10, and 15 dollars for third, second, and first place, respectively. And, and now this is the most important part, do not announce the challenge until the end of the week or month! That way, people will not be able to cheat.
And, with their being third, second and first places, the badge could get quite interesting. It could be a banner filled with medals or something of the likes of that.
We could even get created with the bonus rewards. For instance, the person who gatheres the most referrals could have the referral bonus switched from 10 percent to 25 percent for the following month(or something like that); the person who gets the most comments could be rewarded with 10 cents extra for every comment they had gotten that month. Let’s get a little creative with these challenges!

I agree with this. This is a great idea. Good thinking. I cound not imagine that setting something like this up would take to mush of the admin/programmers time.
Keep pushing this!

I’m a bit late on this article, but I do like the idea of secret challenges for the month. The only problem with that is I really don’t think Triond makes as much as we all assume it does, so it makes me wonder if it would really work. Maybe continue the 10% increase in the earnings, but not to tell anyone about it, or even tell the person that they have it, until the end of the month, which is when the extra amount would be added to the user’s account. That way, nobody would spoil the surprise of the event even taking place until its already over with!
