The real value in writing for Triond is not the money you make but in improving your writing skills.
Visit Triond’s Community Forum a few times and you will note that the largest number of posts is dedicated to How do I get more hits on my articles? While most of us want to make money at our writing, and most of us put a lot of thought and effort into writing and publishing good articles, I think we are asking the wrong question.
The question we should be asking ourselves should be is How can we use Triond to make us better writers? Perhaps, I am idealistic, but I believe that the better writers we become, the more readership our articles will get, and in the end the more money we will make. With that in mind, let’s take a look at what Triond does to help us perfect our writing skills.
Publication
First and foremost, Triond is one of the easiest writing sites to get published on. Getting published has given me more confidence in my writing abilities and has encouraged me to tackle subject matters that I might have otherwise never attempted to write articles on. This has allowed me to flex my writing muscles, and in doing so has improved my ability to write overall.
Comments on Posts
Triond allows people not just other Triond members to comment on everything we publish. Used right this comment section can be a wonderful tool. While comments about typos and spelling errors thrown out for the entire world to see, might make you shudder, it can also make you spend the time and effort to proof read your article not once but several times in order to turn out a more professional and polished article.
Comments that tell you that an article is exceptionally well written can be dissected to help you gain insight into what you did in this particular article that made this article better than others you have written. Hopefully, you can apply the good things to future articles and improve you writers voice, by learning from your own successes.
Reading other people’s work
It is only natural that when someone reads something we write that we want to return the favor. When we read other writer’s work we see examples of both good and bad writing. Well written articles, help us see how we can improve our own articles and provides us with a challenge to write an article that we feel is as good as the one we read.
Reading a poorly written article, makes us think. We think about how we would have written the article to improve it. It also helps us start looking at our own work with a more objective eye.
Provides a stepping stone to other sites
Triond can provide a stepping stone to other sites that perhaps take more work and pay a bit more money. While this is not an objective for everyone, there are quite a few people who would like their writing to become if not their sole income at least a secondary source of income. That means you need to write as much as you can for as many sites as you can.
I started my writing career such as it is on Triond. This site has led to my improving my writing skills to such an extent that I now write on Helium which is a much harder and complicated site to do well on. With the help of someone from this site (Triond) I have been reasonably successful on Helium.
Being part of Helium has helped me to improve my writing even more. I have also signed up with Associate Content which is another challenging site to write for and am now beginning to have some success with them in their upfront payment program. Once I feel I have mastered these two additional sites fairly well, I can then move on to even more difficult sites, that perhaps pay more or try my hand at real freelance writing.
I can think about moving on and up because Triond has helped me acquire skills I might not have acquired on my own. For that reason, while like most of you I would like to see my readership increase, I am thrilled with how Triond has made me a better writer and given me a chance to start earning a little money while gaining experience.
Money helps, but it is not everything. Triond’s real value is not in making you rich, it is in helping you become a better writer so you can make yourself if not rich, at least a little better off financially than you were before you joined this wonderful site.

Triond so far has been a great medium for expression. Money earned from it is secondary. Writing on other platforms, or entering the freelancing fray will make more money, but put a reign on your creativity and freedom to choose topics you are interested in.

I’m not sure I see how being part of Triond or Helium would improve your writing, since you don’t have full visibility on how well your articles are performing.
I used to write on Helium but these days I write on HubPages. There’s a bigger learning curve on HP because you have to join up to affiliate programs yourself in order to earn money, and you have to lay out your articles well with photos etc, but the earnings potential is much higher. I can’t speak for Triond, but I’m making four or five times my Helium earnings with less than half the articles. You get comments there, too. I don’t see why any writer should settle for mere cents per article.

You are right, martie! Publishing sites help us become better writers. What is important here is honing one’s writing skills, not earnings.

I agree with every word. I have been with Triond since 2007. I have made a lot of friends here, and on top of that, I enjoy writing here. Triond is an excellent place to begin your writing career. I wish it would’ve been possible to write for Triond years ago, but however, in those days, sites like this didn’t exist. As far as I’m concerned, Triond is the best.
