                                                               Prologue

Long ago, when the Earth was still young, before your parents parents or even their parents parents, where knights went to battle and fell, and with them, their kingdoms. There was great evil that lurked upon the world but that too faded after a epic battle between man accompanied by elves fought against the powers of the Dark Lord Sagruk but there was no man or beast standing for all man or beast that fought in that battle, died. For many years after, there was peace across all land and darkness faded and all that seemed evil became a vague memory of the past. Every man and every beast could run freely among all the land without having to look behind their back for any evil that may have been there.
In the lands of Marhrel there was one very peaceful village named Erale. Farming was basically the only thing done there except for the market every fortnight that was between lunch and tea hours. Dinner was usually made early because every night was always a feast and the people of Erale were people that were known for eating. Out in the outskirts of the village lived a very normal family. They had their own farm, they were always the first to be at the market for they had a long way back home, though they did not know for what was to come in the near future. Stories were told of a new evil upon and even the forests had an eery look upon them but this never bothered the people and lands of Marhrel for there was no evil for hundreds of years.
There was always a big party every night especially on birthdays or even on other special occasions like Eralers Day, the day the village was founded or even Gramets Day, the day when the Gramets, a knight of a Kingdom that fell long ago slayed the dragon Harhok from destroying the village.
One the eve before Eralers Day, everyone was running around trying to get everything ready when the inevitable happened. A mass group of orcs attacked the village starting at the outskirts where they killed every single person who lived in that house, so they thought. The boy, Samur survived and hid in the bush watching his entire life being destroyed, his house, family, friends and village. There was a army of cavalry who was tracking down the orcs for days but were to late to save anyone but they did kill the remaining orcs and scavenged for any possible survivor’s. The boy was scared of the cavalry at first but when he saw they were men he ran towards them crying and weeping. “Whats your name young boy?” asked the man. The man had looked as if he was the general of this army because he had the better horse, he was dressed better and he had a lot of jewelery. ” Samur, sir.” he said trying hard to stop crying. ” Are you the only one left or is there more?” ” I think I’m the only survivor sir, who are you?”. The men looked at each other, ” I am King Darazai, King of Lathai, Kingdom of the lost White Knights.” Samur stared with big eyes in amazement and a lot of hope. ” What are you going to do with me? Kill me like those fowl beast did to my family and the entire village?” asked Samur while bursting out into tears. ” No, we will take you to the castle and I’ll decide what to do there.”
The King took Samur in to the Castle and Samur became part of the royal family for the Kings two sons have already become something of the past. Samur had to forget about his family and what happened that day in Erale and move on. Long years Samur spent in the castle, everyday different from the other, people were different, lifestyle was different and one thing that stood out most was that the food was different. As you already(hopefully) know the King Darazai loved his jewels, especially the jewels of the first king of Lathai, Merlok. The Jewels were sent down to each king and were forbidden to be worn unless in battle. But we will get to the jewels later. For Samur, he has no idea for what is to come and how his life will change.

                                                              Chapter 1

The morning sun crept over the mistily mountains, the mist cooling down what could be a dreadful heat for it was mid summer and anything that could possibly cool down the lands was eagerly accepted. The light from the sun crept into the room right at the top of the castle, who was occupied by Samur. The rest of the kingdom was still in the cooling shade and mist of the mountains. The animals became restless for they knew the heat of day was arriving and they all started moving towards the nearest water hole. The only man awake was Samurs servant and the farmers who start early for they don’t want to work in the heat of the sun all day long.
“Wake up, son!” shouted a voice from just outside the room as it sounded. The voice was that one of Samurs servant. Waking Samur up was always a difficult job for he was still a teenager and he liked sleeping until noon. “Today is a big day Samur, you don’t want to miss half of it because of sleeping till noon, for there is still a lot to do.” Today  was Samurs sixteenth birthday and almost the entire Kingdom of Lathai was invited. Samur loved big parties, especially when it was one like his that night. Though he lived in the palace and it was his birthday he still had to work. ” Its also your turn to fetch the sheep, i hear they’ve one down towards the White River.” The White River was the river that went from the ocean straight into The Mountain Of Arazog. No one knows where the water leads to but that is where it stops. ” But its my birthday? Surely I don’t have to do it, do I? ” Samur didn’t really mind doing his duty for it was how he grew up the first seven years of his life. Its been eleven years since the dreadful day in Erale and even though Samur lives happily and has started a new life, the day in Erale still stays in his memory and he surely will never forget that day.

Samur was busy putting the last in the sheep pen, he saw a cart on the ox-trail heading towards the castle. From where he was he could see two figures sitting on the cart. He was surprised to see the cart still driving straight for the ox-trail was a bumpy and rocky surface. The one figure was a man who was steering the cart and the other was a women with hair halfway down her back. He couldn’t see anymore detail for he was to far away. He followed the wobbly cart back to the castle and when he got inside the castle walls he lost the cart. He decided that if it was someone important he would of known. It was mid-day and the sun was at its hottest(around about 39 degrees Celsius), There was big commotion, people running around, banners and balloon and tables all being set up for the party and Samur was getting ready for his party when his servant Mikar sent him a message, ” The King wants to see you, his down at the courtyard.” Samur didn’t think it was that important so he took his taking his time as he strolled down the stairs down the passage way, past the kitchen and then into the courtyard. The King was standing in the centre of the courtyard talking to a women who looked strangely familiar to him. ” Ah, finally. You surely do take your time to obeying to orders from a king don’t you.”.  Samur and the King laughed about it for a while and Sanur knew he was just joking around. ” This women claims to know you, do you know her or can i through her out the castle?”. The women and Samur stared at each other for a brief moment. ” Is that really you, Samur?” the women said first. “Its me, Livira.” You could see the immediate change in expression on his face. Samur stood still staring in amazement. ” Samur, do you know this women or not?” said the king getting a bit agitated. “Livira? But how?” Samur struggled to get his words out. ” The day in Erale, the orcs, you survived?”. Suddenly the king knew what they were going on about. ” So you do know this women? ” ” Yes from Erale, last time I saw you was that morning at the market. I thought you died to but..” Samur paused, “Do I look dead to you?” replied Livira “But how?” Livira stood silent for a moment as she stared at Samur. “My entire family was caught, me, both my parents and of course Danvel.” Danvel was Liviras older brother, who of course was as close as a brother to Samur. “The orcs were busy with the rest of the town and they through us in a cellar but i was small enough to fit through a tiny hole in the cellar. My dad said i must go and run to the nearest house far from here…” she paused for a moment as a tear ran down her eye ” I than said goodbye and i left through the hole and never looked back until i was on top of the hill at Aunt Girla’s house. The whole place was alight and i haven’t seen my family since, but i luckily went into a house and met Uncle Timar.” She looked at the man rubbing the coat of the ox. “He has looked after me since and when i heard you were still alive and you lived in the castle in Lathai I got hear as soon as possible to suprise you for your birthaday so suprise!”
