Bad and Good of Triond

The things I have found good and bad about writing at Triond.

I have been a Triond writer for a couple of months now and I am still learning the inner workings of publishing on a paid to write web site. However, here is an overview of what I have think about it so far. There are good’s and bad’s on Triond.

Good

Triond is a great resource for people that want to write and know that the site they are using is legitimate. So many sites publish your work but, then start to decline future works. This ensures you never meet the minimum payout and you loose all the money from your previous publications. Triond does have a minimum pay out amount, but they do not let you get right up to that amount and then start declining your work, so that you never reach it. They actually pay you for all your hard work.

Many sites offer only one style or category of writing. For example other sites only let you publish “how to” articles or “review style” articles. On Triond, a writer can publish on most any topic they choose and in style they choose. Whether you write poetry, fiction, non fiction, essay, or just random thoughts, it all has an equal place here at Triond.

The editors at Triond are expedient about getting submissions published. Some sites I have submitted to can take weeks to review and decide if they want your work or not. I also find the submission confirmation email that they send helpful. It lets me know when my submission is published so that I do not have to continually check my “content” tab.

The “friend” and “fan” feature is very nice. I like being able to “friend” someone and get a constant stream of their work on my community page. This saves a lot of time hunting for works and authors that you enjoy reading.

It is wonderful that Triond does not only use pay pal or other online money sites. I want to get a check in the mail, and Triond offers this feature. I am very leery of sharing my personal finical information on the net.

Bad

I would like to be able to see who it is the “likes” my work on Triond. It would be preferable if the “like it” box was within the comment box and could be checked (or not) when posting a comment.

There seems to be some inconsistency on what content is published and declined at Triond. For example, I wrote a story on the “Savage Nation” radio host. In order for me to express my point, I used several quotes. I got a decline notice because one of the quotes was found on a political page. The page only used the quote and none of my other content. If that is the case then a lot of other articles, including some of my other articles, should be declined as well. If you use a quote esp. from a figure in the media, of course you are going to find it multiple other places. So, I don’t understand this. The only question should be is the content of the rest of the article the same.

So, all in all….I love my time at Triond and have enjoyed making great friends like: Lauren Axelrod, Chris Stonecipher, Chan Lee Peng, M. Stokes, etc.. Please feel free to share your experience and add on to my bad’s and good’s.

LOL.. it is funny because I just wrote this a couple of nights ago, and it was just published moments ago: http://www.writinghood.com/Online-Writing/The-1-Reason-Why-I-Like-Triond-Better-Than-Other-Sites.263777

You and I think alot alike!

So, as you will read from my article, something I would add to the good, is that the editors/managers are not biased.

I had joined another site, that the ‘managers’ were extremely biased. If you are curious to more details, you can pm me, and I will fill you in on it.

I agree, that it would be nice to see who likes our work.

But regardless, I think Triond is the best.

Man, you have been busy writing Jo. I’m jealous, I have been studying for Anatomy II all week. Anyway, you have some great points here.

I to have had the problems of quotes and lack of content. Sometimes I don’t understand it. I will resubmit 5 different times and get the same answer.

I feel you on this one.

Great piece and thanks for shout, your the best!

    Jo,
I attempted to write an advocay paper in bullet point. It was atleast 300 words and I was told it was an incomplete article. It was similar but different content to my Disability and Resource Advocacy article.

I also find a lot to like about Triond. I am not especially concerned about who likes my work but I do have concerns that some of my comments on my friends articles will not post without submitting a half dozen times and sometimes not at all. i have had a few things rejected because someone else had written about the same thing recently and one family recipe was rejected because it appeared in a paper or magazine about the same time.I have no real complaint about Triond. I am satisfied.

I do wish there was a way to see who “likes” your work. I also wish there was a way to leave our names as weblinks. So many times I have to copy and paste the name of anyone that left notes on an article to find them and read their work as well. But, all in all, I’ve enjoyed Triond so far.

Thanks for adding me here. I learned a lot from your health knowledge and other materials as well. I do agree to your point.

The bad point of my view on Triond are as below:

Triond hot content list is dominated by the hot users. I’d suggest Triond to equally give chance to those talented and newbie here chances to promote their works. Let everyone be have an equal chance to appear in the hot content lists. Or, something that I’d say, it’s a rotation, so that everyone here has a equal treat to be advertised in the hot content lists. (Note: I’m not bias to those hot users, so please don’t fire at me. )

As a community of Triond, I do feel that we writers here should communicate to understand each other. I’ve found that some fans and friends who added you in their lists just for a purpose of earning clicks here, but they themselves did not even read the works to those he or she added as friends. I think this is dishonest and cheating. Let not compete in this way.

The other things that I’m not happy is that some fans just post their links to your sites. I found this annoying. It seems like they’re threatening you to read their works. If you don’t read their works, they won’t stumble your articles and etc. I found that this is like doing business rather than sharing idea here. Shall Triond allows this culture hang around here? I think this is unhealthy. Let be respect to other writers’ pride and dignity! We’re all writers and thus we’ve our pride and dignity which deserve to be respected.

If you want to leave comment, please leave the constructive one but not the “threatening” or destructive one. It seems like people who did this are not civilised at all.

These are the shortcoming of Triond I thought so far. Apart from this, I found Triond is a good site to write. Also, the editors and staffs at Triond are very helpful. Other good features of Triond has documented in my article:

    Thanks and take care!

    Regards,
    Chan

Thank you all for adding to my article. I am so glad that others are finding good and bad here on Triond. As the community that makes this site run we should openly talk about things that we feel will make this site better and maybe the owners, managers, etc.. will take note.

Chan- Lauren and I have been on the subject of people making friends for ALL the wrong reasons. She has written several articles on it. This has got to be the most hair pulling thing about this site. So few here actually respect the give and take of writing and being friends.

Great thoughts. Triond for me has been an excellent release for me to get some of my creative writings out to the public.

    Dear Jo,

I think this is a very thoughtful and honest article.

I believe that Triond is a wonderful site and I fall in love with it more everyday. There are many people in this world that do or say things that with more knowledge and wisdom they are able to change their ways. For example, in the beginning, I sometimes would leave a link to my articles because I didn’t know better. Sometimes I did it thinking that someone would honestly just be interested in my work since it was related to what they had written about. Now, I understand that sometimes this sincere form of exchange is not always taken in the way I had intended it – you live and you learn and realize you must adjust to be kind to other people and show you truly care.

I think what we need more of is understanding that everyone is just doing the best they can with where they are currently at in their lives.

Blessings & best wishes to all.

    Sincerely,

    -Liane Schmidt.

Liane and NA thank you for the comments.

I personally do not mind anyone leaving their links in my comment section… if it has some tie to my work. I just get upset by people who comment only to leave a link that has nothing to do with my article.

This was a very interesting and thought-provoking article. I feel like the good on Triond very much outweighs the bad. The one thing I don’t like about Triond, however, is that the name you use for your comment doesn’t link to your profile. When I get reviews on my stuff, I always try to read/look at and review at least one piece of that person’s work, and I would much rather click and see their profile than have to go back to the dashboard, click explore, do a search, etc. etc. just to find out that their name isn’t even a username. Oh well, like I said, the good here far overshadows the bad. Happy Triond-ing!
