Why hotlists are just…stupid.
Hey, everyone. Let’s log into Triond.
Let’s see. I’m being redirected to the home pag- OOOH! The Hotlist!
That’s right. I called the hostlist unfair. Deal with it. The thing with the hotlist is, the items on it actually become hotter once they reach the hotlist. Things on the hotlist catch people’s attention and they want to read them. This brings the number of views up and up until finally people stop clicking on them…because everyone has read it before. You see how this is unfair, right? By putting articles on the hotlist, Triond actually helps boost the number of views for a certain item. Other articles that don’t make the hotlist are just left in the dust.
Let’s look at this for a moment. What REALLY attracts a reader to read an article is the title, and not the content. It doesn’t matter how good or bad the content within an article is, as long as the title is catchy. This means that crappy articles with catchy titles or titles that are just plain weird can get more views than a good article. Hotlist? More like Craplist
There are many people that have said that they’ve made the hostlist with around 40 views. That’s not too hot if you ask me. If there’s someone with 40 views getting on the hotlist, something’s wrong. ’nuff said.
Most people that go on Triond or any other writing site just to earn money. If someone writes about the hotlist, how to get on the hotlist, how to get more views, etc. then these people are drawn to these articles. These articles end up being repetitive and still make the hotlist. Not too hot to me.
So next time you log into Triond, skip the hotlist. Really, just do it. Some of the articles just aren’t that great (Not saying all, some are actually really good). Go discover some great undiscovered article instead!

The NOT LIST has way too many peeps listed that have one ONE or SEVERAL articles and worse, things that really have no business being on there. I am sure they are enjoying the notoriety, but whatever algorithm sent them up there is wrong. I hope Triond repairs this soon.
