Can all of us who write for both Triond and Bukisa make Bukisa a better writing site for everyone concerned. I think we can. Won’t you join me in making the effort?
A few days ago I wrote an article on Bukisa and how difficult it was to get views and make friends on that site. The articles got comments both agreeing and disagreeing with my assessment of the situation on the site.
Having spent some time considering both the comments and my feelings regarding my experiences on Bukisa, I have reached the conclusion that the main difference between Bukisa and Triond is a sense of community.
While the Triond community is active, and helpful, Bukisa seems to lack any sense of community what so ever. It is as though you write in a vacuum with little support from other writers. New writers to the site get little feedback and no comments on their articles whatsoever from experienced members.
I had seriously been considering giving up on Bukisa as a choice of writing sites, not only because of my lack of views on any of my articles, but because of the very lack of community as camaraderie. Instead, I decided to try and do something about the situation.
Can Bukisa change and become a great community for writers? I think it can, but only if the those who are part of the community want to see it change. In order, to have a supportive community there as all of us do here on Triond the writers themselves need to feel a sense of community is important and be willing to put in the effort to make the necessary changes.
Since so many Triond members, also write for Bukisa, I felt this site was an excellent place to start to make those changes.
This is a call to arms of all active Triond members, who are also part of the Bukisa community. Why don’t we all join together add each other as friends and start supporting each other on both sites.
Once that is accomplished we should also begin to support other Bukisa writers by reading their work and making comments and offering advice as we do on here.
The results of such an endeavor will be that we will get more views to our own work, make some new friends, and build a supportive network that will encourage one another and others as well.
While, I can’t ever imagine Bukisa being as great a site as Triond, it can come a close second if we all work to make it become a writer friendly site.
Who knows where that could lead for all of us.
If anyone is interested in accepting the challenge of making Bukisa a better site message me with your user name on Bukisa and I will add you to my friends list.
Let’s see if we can make a difference!

Good points but to me honest.. I only have time to be social on one site… especially with dial up, a full time job, and critters who need my time too (not to mention husband and kid lol)..
I find Trionds community to be “easier”.. but I know what you mean.. I will try more on other sites too, but find I am spreading myself thin as it is.

Hi Martie, Thank you so very much for this article, great job. I am new on Triond and Busika, 3 months here and less then a month on Busika. Here on Triond I use my real name, but on Busika I use my screen name: freeopp, I would consider it a privilege if you followed me on both and I will definitely do the same for you. I am excited as to the results of this article, I know it will be a huge win-win for everyone that wants to join us.

I haven’t bothered with Bukisa since i write mainly poetry and there doesn’t seem to be any poetry on the site that I have seen, but good luck with your endeavour,
Christine

I also have my doubts about Bukisa. I’ll try but with looking for a job again I will have to see before committing. I’ll seriously think about your heartfelt article.

I’m totally with you in this. My username in Bukisa is umashankari. I have just 11 articles and I haven’t bothered to re-submit some of my triond articles there. My earlier comment hasn’t appeared here. Hope this one gets accepted.

Well, I only write for Triond but this should be an interesting experiment. I admire people who write for two or more sites.
