Trionds attempts to improve the quality of the content posted on their network of sites appears to be failing and punishing those who are posting good content and allowing those posting articles relating to subjects such as sex continue as they were.
Triond’s current drive to clear up the Triond network appears to not only be failing as search rankings and search engine hits have not increased, but they are now rejecting perfectly good content while still allowing inappropriate articles such as one I saw yesterday regarding swingers sex and another recent articles that have appeared on my feed regarding sex techniques etc.
These sex related articles were the target Triond originally set out to remove as it is one of the area’s which google do not like and will down grade sites for publishing such material. As has already happened to many of Triond’s sites already.
This effects other users, yes we have the flag button to flag such material and I personally have flagged such articles in the past as inappropriate, but it seemed to have no effect and the articles stayed. I have to be honest at that point i decided not to give these article a view and just decided to ignore them.
But events on Monday 19 September 2011 made me re-evaluate the way I view Triond’s attempts to clean up their network of sites and I realised that they are punishing the wrong users.
On Monday I posted a cocktail recipe, those of you who are familiar with my work will know that over the last few months I have posted around 40 such recipes, all very different. However this time Triond rejected the cocktail recipe on grounds of duplication of content, the cocktail in question was a coconut lime martini and the Triond bot told me it was duplicating content of three of my other cocktails recipes the corpse reviver, B52 shooter and a Caipirinha cocktail.
All four of these cocktails use different ingredients and different methods to mix them, apart from a link to the hub page which has links to all my cocktail recipe’s there is no duplication at all. I am currently waiting to Triond’s admin team to sort this mess out but personally I think they are targeting the wrong users with their attempts to clean up the site.
We need to remove the harmful articles such as the sex related pieces as Google and co do not like these, and allow normal no offensive articles such as recipes, news pieces, poems, reviews and short stories, remain on the site other wise all the decent writers will get fed up and move to other sites such as Bukisa and Wikinut where they can happily publish their work.
I really hope that Triond can sort things out so not to punish good writers and allow them to flourish.
