Poor Peter’s Easter Sunday.
Poor little Peter lived with is parents who were so cruel to him!!
Today was Easter Sunday and there was so much excitement in the air as the children of the village were taking part in an Easter Egg hunt.
Their laughter and excited chatter could be heard for miles around;and at the end of the hunt was a huge Easter Egg as a prize for the winner.
Oh how the sun shone;how the birds sang and the flowers twinkled cheekily in the warm glow.
However for one little boy there was only a picture of sadness the birds weren’t singing ;the sun was not shining and the flowers had whithered away !!!
For poor little Peter who lived with his parents Batty Hatty and Slimy Sid and was subjected to so much cruelty!!His mother such a weak person and almost like a child while his father was never happier than when he was being mean to his son!!
Poor Peter had woken up in his empty and bare bedroom only to be told that he was to sit at the window and watch all the other children having fun,but on no account was he to join them !!
Peter watched all the fun;his small face almost blank; no emotion only a single tear running down his baby cheeks;he had long ago given up wondering why he was treated so cruelly;he was by now almost programmed to expect and accept!!!
The children were so excited and wondrous chants as they found another egg;but no-one looked up at the window where the sad little boy was watching so still and so quiet!!
Suddenly Peter felt a something brush against his cheek;and then to his amazement there was a little fairy balancing perfectly on his hand. She sang in the softest voice that Peter had ever heard;-
“I am the Easter Fairy
Just count to three!!
Then you’ll join in the fun
Simply follow me.”
Peter was a little puzzled begins to count to three ;as he gt to two a green mist which smelt of new mowed grass surrounded them but disappeared just as quickly and lo and behold he found himself in the midst of the Easter Egg hunt !!! No one questioned his presence and carried on hunting as before.
The Easter fairy again appeared on his shoulder and whispered into his ear,
“The gigantic Egg is hidden
In the midst of the heather
Simply go there and you will find
The biggest Easter Egg ever.”
This is just what happened and Peter was the centre of attention as everyone told him how clever he was and patted him on his back!!!
However Peter took a long and hard look at the gigantic Egg and he knew that this was not right.
He had found this egg by cheating;so he turned to the other and children and said.
“This egg is rightly yours;you take it and share it out between you.!!”
They didn’t need to be told twice and they pounced on the egg in greater excitement than ever.
Peter was again st on his own but this time he was happy!!!
In a moment the Easter Fairy again appeared on his shoulder:-
“You are such a kind boy
With a kindness so rare.
Here’s your key to happiness.
Simple believe and behold.”
“You will find a silver lock
In the branches of that tree.
Use this gold key to open
No more sadness you’ll see.”
Peter looked for the lock and it didn’t take him long to find it !!!! He felt a stirring of happiness inside him;a feeling that was so new for him!!
What had the fairy told him ??? He thought for a while before remembering.
“Believe in yourself and walk forward with faith in your heart!!”
As he advanced he whispered to himself: “I am a good person and I so want to be happy!!”
“On no better than that I deserve to be happy!!”
The gold key fitted perfectly, the lock snapped open and all around him Peter saw and heard birds singing;the sun shining and there were the prettiest flowers he had ever seen.
Peter looked around him and he was in a land of beauty;oh yes magical beauty !!
Walking towards him was a man and a woman who had the kindest faces that Peter had ever seen; he felt as if he knew them but couldn’t quite remember ……………………….??
Of course they were the ones who came to him in his dream every night;the ones who said to carry on being brave because very soon they were going to take him away from all the cruelty and he would live with them in happiness ,love and care forevermore.
They came nearer with their arms outstretched and Peter walked into them as if he had known them all his life.
Peter walked with them into his new home where no-one would ever be nasty to him again.
No more cruelty and no more tears !!!
The little Easter Fairy smiled ;oh yes another Easter to cherish.
With the help of her magical powers she had this year again saved another child from daily cruelty and tears, to a life of happiness which Peter so deserved.
“Oh yes I am so happy
Because of one little boy.
His heart once so heavy
Is now filled with joy.”
I wish you all a very Happy Easter from my little corner here in Wales.
