One of the most important things to know when in school is how to earn yourself good grades. Here are some tips that I have learned and want to share with you.
“M.B. Aziz,” the principal called me up for Principal’s Honor Roll. Again. Principal’s Honor Roll Award is given to students that achieve straight “A’s” in both conduct and academics and straight “1’s” in effort on their report card for the nine weeks. During my academic career, I have learned not only the required school curriculum, but also how to get good grades, or in this case, maintain a perfect GPA in all of my classes. Here are a few tips that you can use to be successful in school.
The first tip, one of paramount vitality, is to study your teachers. Peculiar as it is, I found this very effective in school. What this means is: take mental note of what assignments your teacher grades and do well on them. Notice their pattern of teaching. If you find that they teach a lesson a day and give a pop quiz on Friday, chances are you will have a test at the end of the week so make sure to study. If your teacher reiterates a piece of information more than once, he or she is emphasizing its importance so make sure to study.
Next, make sure that your schedule includes enough time for you to complete all of your homework and study well. Doing your homework whole heartedly will prove its usefulness when you are studying. Homework, in a sense, is designed to make you study. So if you complete your homework with an eagerness to learn, by the time the test comes, you will find that you have digested most of the information and you only need a little bit of time to touch up on some minor details.
Lastly, do not procrastinate! I have learned this the hard way. In eleventh grade, 12 reading plus sessions were due in two weeks you could only do two a day . I postponed it till the last six days. Then something turned up and I wound up with only half a dozen sessions which earned me an “F.”
So, to sum up all that I have discovered about school, for you to both earn and maintain a flawless report card, you have to study your teacher, make time for afterschool learning, and do not delay any assignments to the last minute, especially the ones you know for a fact will require a lengthy duration of time.
